I was in a customers basement. With my helper staring at me while I typed on my phone. sometimes muttering under my breath because paypal wouldn't open.

Yeah..pretty lame?

  • Fastest sellout in history.
  • Increased registrations over last year
  • Gave notice of exactly when registration was opening.
  • Over 80 drivers registered for more than 300 tickets.

I would say that is lame.

Have a great day!!!

You misunderstood what I was saying was lame.... Its not the fact that it sold out in 22 hours, or there's more demand for tickets. Nothing lame about that, I would say that's a great thing. This hobby is exploding rapidly. My problem is that I am not always in front of a computer and don't have time to read all the post every day so I missed the post about when registration was going to open. I didn't think that it would sell out so quick and there was a very limited about of driver that are able to compete. That's my fault and maybe next year I will read every post, every day.

My question is why limited to so little tickets when there is such a demand? Only 80 drivers for the East Coast. Sounds very limited, which is the lame part. Maybe time to find a different venue if they can't accommodate the crowd this event draws in. The campground looks great and from what I saw and read of pics and comments it looks like a great time. That's why I was excited about going this year. Next year I will try to pay closer attention....Sorry if I offended anybody thinking that I said the event was lame. Not what was meant at all.

I will still probably make it down for the event on one of the days, but was looking forward to doing some competing...

I can answer this. Logistically you can only funnel so many rigs thru a course a day. The Camp ground only had so much space for people. Now if it were to become a week long event where you could do class 2 course for 3 days straight, then you could open more. You'd have cranky judges by the end but you could theoretically do it.

Even our local Club has a limit of about 25 rigs per event. You just can't get everyone thru fairly otherwise.

Speaking from experience it takes a lot to setup the courses and organize the events. When you get a big crowd signed up for a event you have to keep it organized and keep it moving through the competitors. I belong to Va-Scaler. We put events on and our first big event we had 50 sign up. We spent all day judging the comp didn't finish up til 5 or 6 in the evening. So to sum it up I understand why he limits it. Its a lot to keep track of.

Having all courses (of the same class) run at the same time really helped move things along last year.
I talked the NWITTC guys into following that format and it's working out great... assuming you have enough judges.

This is an awesome time, best thing the east coast has offered as far as comps go I'd say..... Gurus are trying to get there too tho ;)
Lol

Ohio Rc Scale Gurus!!

Hell, I'll be there even if I'm not competing. I'm not taking summer courses this year so I'll even be able to help with course prep. I'm even considering to help judge as a writer!

Ok guys thanks for the info and for clearing that up for me. It makes more sense to me now on why its so limited. I am a noob when it comes to competing and how comps are run. I just envisioned it as being much bigger with hunderds of competitors. If I would of know it would sell out so quick I would of been on my toes a bit more.

If volunteers are need to help set up the courses and what not, I would love to give up my time to help where ever it is needed.

PM Me with your info, I'm taking care of all of the courses.

We will be starting the courses 6+ weeks before the comp.

That goes for anyone local that wants to help out, you don't have to know how to build a course, you just need to know how to use a shovel rake and move rocks.

we need something to keep this thread moving:

I'm sure someone can move some photos over from the 2013 thread.

Good idea!
