2013 Westcoast Shootout

I've been to some bigger comps before but was never a part of helping set one up until now. It really is amazing how months and months of planning/ coordinating can be over in three short days. Everything from renting port-a-potties to getting food and drinks for the drivers so they can survive the day, is all stuff that is never seen from the competitors but sure adds up to make a great comp in the end.

Rich (rcjunky3) and Jim (illegal) deserve a lot of credit for getting all of the little (and big) things right for this comp. Along with the rest of the West Coast club members that busted their ass to make sure everything basically went off without a hitch......minus the snow on friday.

Congrats to all of the class winners as the courses were far from cake walks. I thought it was great to see all of the course sponsors come up with their own course designs that demanded some great driving just to progress a few gates. Tough but fair is all you can ask for and that's what we had.

I'd also like to thank all of the sponsors for stepping up and donating some great prizes so the drivers could walk away with something at the end of the day. Cash payouts and cool trophies are something I'm sure the winners appreciated as well.

Thanks to everyone that made the trip out and I enjoyed hanging out with some new and old friends throughout the weekend."thumbsup"

I couldn't of said it better myself. Great job guys"thumbsup" you put on one hell of an event"thumbsup""thumbsup"

I know we all appreciate the hard work that went on behind the scenes to make this such an enjoyable event!!!

I also want to thank all the sponsors for their support and donations for the giveaways!!!

Well, I thought I was going to be leaving California without experiencing my first earthquake. However, as I was sitting in the airport terminal, I was given the ultimate free souvenir! It was kinda fun...

The epicenter was out in the desert near Indio, pretty much in the middle between LA and SD.

That was nice of Bryce to arrange that for me. Close enough to feel it, far away enough to make sure I didn't end up hiding under the chair and crying like a child...

Lucky!!! I've been here for 3 years and still haven't felt one. Maybe I should stay put longer.

3rd in 2.2s- Nationals Invite
3rd in Overall- Bragging Rights
4.7 Earthquake before getting on a plane- Priceless

I'm very confident that you shat yourself at least five times while judging 1.9's with me. You couldn't wipe that "happy grin" off your face for nothin'.:flipoff:

Just dropped Hawaii'a only comp crawler at the airport. Whatta weekend!!! Courses were tough, fun & definitely put everyones rigs to the test. I'm BEYOND happy with a top 20 finish in that pool of talent.

HUGE props go out to Jim (Illeagle) & Rich (RCJunky3) for the ENDLESS hours of work that they put into this comp over the last few months. Ive attended my share of large comps but as Paystin said...I had no clue how much work goes into em. It was my honor to contribute as much as I could & just having a hand in such a KILLER event makes me feel a tiny bit proud 8)

Also Mark Reel (CrawlItSlow) for doing all that he did from Texass. Charlie (BigDude) for just being YOU! Matt (TappedOut) for the creepy goatee, constant fondling of my tooshie  & the Throwback Mountain Dews. Chris The Vanilla Gorilla Paystin for taking that bullet all weekend ;-) Also all of aboves families. Rich had his girls & wife out they did A LOT to help things run smooth. Team Vess...what can I say??? You guys ALWAYS go huge. Moocho grassyass Vess familia...& to ALL that helped make this event what it was from behind the scenes...THANKS!!!

Judges braved cold weather, warm weather, wind, snow & rain. GREAT judging guys. I can say as a marshall...I only had ONE complaint brought to me all weekend long so I'd say it was a HUGE success.

Y-Towns own for stepping up HUGE with what I would call the toughest course of the weekend. Dlux & Chaotic for bringing some 801 love to the SoCal rock. San Diego RCRC for the feel good course of the weekend. Casey for stepping up to build the Rowdy Racing course when SOME SIDEBURN WEARING TEXAN decided to sleep in a few extra hours even though I told him AT LEAST 3 TIMES while eating dinner that he had to be there at 6am :flipoff:

HUGE thanks to those course sponsors for donating prizes in excess of $100 each for top scores on said courses. Y-Town, Chaotic, Dlux, Rowdy Racing & SDRCRC...YOU guys are prime examples of why our sport is surviving so SINCERE thanks guys "thumbsup"
