1st Place! car show

Wow, thats the first time I have ever heard that. who the hell associates big rims with street rods? I have never seen a street rod with big rims, and hope to never see one.

I guess your from the "new school" or what ever you guys are calling your self.
Yeah Chip Foose and Boyd Coddington must have it all wrong then.. There not two of the pioneers of street rodding or anything..

That is nice, I love the look of it, funny thing is I'm not old, I'm 15 but will stick to the real hot rod style wheels till the day I die.
Says the guy with a Monte Carlo in his sig..

I'm too old for the mega hoops .. Big and littles are my style.
That is damn sexy and would look different with big rims on it, but there is a difference between street rods and hot rods. And thats deffinatly a hot hot rod..

But you cant tell me this isnt cool as hell. (22's in back 18's in front)

There isn't a Monte Carlo in my sig, and I love my Monte Carlo.

chip foose and boyd coddington, thats funny right there.

As for your rims, they look like something you find on a "caddy" in the "hood"

Those last 2 look pretty awesome.

It is a different form of the car hobby, and there is alot of work that go into them, its just my opinion that they look dumb, there are times when they look awesome. Its all personal preference and it makes the world go 'round.

Not my style thats for sure...I would never put anything bigger than 17in rims on anything of mine...
I like my good ol 15in rims just fine

That's 1 sharp camaro, and some sweet iron, SK!!! Congrats on the win!!!

The big-rim look has been around for at least a few years-I remember seeing a tri-5 with black rims from a BMW about 3 years ago. It sounds stupid, but I loved it, and it made the cover of the mag, I believe.

As far as hotrods, they are no-chrome/nothing-there-that-isn't- needed-type of cars, whereas the streetrods-which are largely what have been shown-are decorated (many times) with billet accessories, chromed parts, and other decorative accessories. Don't get me wrong, I love both kinds, as well as rat rods and restored classics!!

I prefer to go with the old saying "if it don't go, chrome it":ror:

Finally someone with a sense of whats actually going on today in the Street rod scene.. Im guessing noone in here besides me and you have picked up a hot rod magazine or street rodder magazine in the past 5 years.. Since 20's debute in like 1999, they have been a hit on Rods and street rods. And No, Im not talking about that gay "Donk" shit..

No we all know whats going on in the street rod scene...
I'm just not into it (I like to think for myself rather than have a magazine think for me)

I dont make the rules, I simply said thats whats going on in the scene. Go to any hot rod/street rod car show and you will see that a majority of them are going with the bigger rims and bigger break setups. Its different strokes for different folks though. Myself personally, I like it.

They look good within reason. If you are doing a retro rod, not good. But, the "Resto Mod" as they have named them at Barrett Jackson, then yeah, they fit...I think a nice Chevelle or Camaro (no ford here for me, sorry) with a set of Baer or Wilwood 4-6 piston calipers, drilled rotors, and plenty of shine deserve to show it all off through a big wheel. I like some that are spin-offs of retro factory wheels, just enlarged and cleaned up...When someone throws them on a mostly stock muscle car, that looks like total CRAP!!! It's one or the other, no in between undecided stuff...Foose and Coddington's cars are sick, but they are usually by no means a restoration to period being correct, they are making the "Resto-Mods" and doing well with them...

The nice ones though, and the Honda's all done up with stick on this, and bolt on that, whiney little 2 stroke sounding exhausts, and steel wheels in the front with alloys in the back...Confused all together!! Think they are race cars, decals add horsepower, and steel/alloy wheels are the schiznit!!! That is stupid all around. :flipoff:
