1200 vs 1800 KV Hobbywing Quicrun Fusion SE

I have a relatively stock Enduro Sendero RTR (2019) that I want to upgrade with a new motor. I want to stay with the same pinion, which I believe is 18t. I'm hoping to see better torque but maintain the current top speed or slightly increase it. I am running the dreaded NIMH; I don't know which one to choose. I don't want it to be overly fast, and I saw that 1200kv is better for run time. I'm currently getting 2 hours out of one battery. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

2 hours out of a NIMH? 1200kv turns slower (but I believe it has the same steps as the 1800 per volt, so no change there), so slower speed = less battery usage. Your pinion would not really have to change either.

yea i have two 7.4v 3000mah, i can go for a whole night with them. so im seeing that the original motor a 16t 5-slot has a comparable KV of 3500. i’m worried about the 1200kv and the 1800kv for that matter are going to be significantly slower. i’m new to this RPM motor stuff and gearing.

Keep reading about motors your numbers are a bit off, but on the right track. A bit slower but only when throttle is wide open. Why switch?

My research came up with the reedy 16t 5 slot original motor in my son's gatekeeper was about 1600kv equivalence.

Personally, I'd go 1800kv (I have 2 of them). I use the extra wheel speed to get up loose, low traction hills or bump up a ledge way more than I need super low speed torque.

You can always go up or down a tooth or two on the pinion. They're cheap enough I keep a selection around just in case I want to try something different.

Element uses 48p pinions. Robinson are good. Don't need the extra strong one since the spur is plastic.

I own all 2 in 1 systems. 1800 is what I would suggest unless.
I really like the 1200 and 1400 for the slow technical situations but miss the extra wheel speed when I need it.
Now if they were rated to 4s lips that would be awesome!!

I think i picked up my 1200kv 2 in 1 when it went on sale for <$48 a few months ago just to try out.

I mean the HW1040 and a motor would cost that and maybe more.
