Hawaii-style surf-punk High-lift
This is my Tamiya 3-speed. It's inspired by those "street-legal" monster-yota's one sees in hawaii.
Chassis: stock high-lift
dampers: Carson buggy frontdampers without springs, 400wt and 3-hole pistons
springs: only 2 layers with anti-twist bars.
wheels: wild-willy rears. (not weighted) They're 2.2", but thatt's about all that can be said about them
Wheels used for mild crawler duty: Ansmann 1.9" beadlocks, fairly grippy when dry, somewhat less impressive when wet.Still, a lot better than the wild-willy ones.
motor: Axial 27-turns standard
electronics: Graupner XR-3, shifting by trim on 3rd channel, slow, but works.
servo:Graupner/JR high-torque. bb and steel gears. SSV 9764
ESC: stock Tamiya 104
Whole truck fully ball-raced.
I omitted that overly-complex battery compartment by just strapping a nosram 3000mah battery under the bed, between the frame-rails. Fits like a glove.
interior: balsa bench, covered with fabric from old pair of khaki pants. steering wheel from old nikko kart.
figure: re-painted street-fighter action figure.
accessories: some proline stuff, old shoes from other action-figure, some doll-house 1:12 stuff like slippers
lmao
, milkshake cups, some coke-bottles magazine cut-outs. If people want to see the crappy interior, i'll make a couple of extra pics with the body off.
Tough vahine...
It's not a good crawler,
or even trail-truck, especially with those crazy monster-truck wheels, but as a scaler, it's about as good as it gets straight from the box.
