I guess photobucket has pulled a "bait and switch" deal on its users
and now extort money from those folks using their hosting service to post here on the forum (3rd party)

So I'll suppose all of my pictures in my previously posted threads are no longer working as well.

12 years of using photobucket as my official picture host. And are now lost to the abyss.

So I can only show the aftermath of the build using youtube.

^ that'll hafta do.

I would likely be using 1/2" X 1/8" mild steel flat bar
if I'll be welding it.

Sorry if all the specifics are not not shown...
but I'll assure folk that I have many of them in my thoughts.

Realize this is just a rough 1st draft...
and it goes from here.

But before I start...
Does anyone recommend a fab/chassis builder here
that specializes/offers custom laser cutting using 12 Ga ?

I'd rather have rounded turns in the frame.
I might even think to lower the skid mount a little more
so's I could clear some custom built sliders without notching the rockers.

A fair buy in value, might be considered over my personal efforts.

BP ?

anyone got a lead ?

Re: Waith/Nylint TJ bodied 1/6

Check Norton's Gladiator build, I think he had a custom frame made for it, he might be able to help you out.

Dell,
Awesome work so far and thanks for the info with using Titanium Mike for the custom links.

I used BPC Bp Custom Chassis - Home to make my chassis. Info came from Norton. You will want to talk to Bruce or Justin. Justin actually spent a few hours at separate times to dial in my chassis.

One was cut incorrectly through a miscommunication so i might have and extra one for you. Not sure if it will work but take a look at the picture.

PM me for Justin's e-mail address/phone #.

Steel ? Gauge ? pm'd

I have one each additional 1/6 Nylint TJ and Scorpion body
if either of those might garner yer interest.

No... they're not free, nor dirt cheap :flipoff:

Replied to PM.

I know they are not free. Try having a custom chassis made and see what it costs. :lmao:Just see if it will work first and we will discuss the Scorpion later. I already tried to buy it from you anyway.

Frame rail's puzzle pieces cut/laid out...
~yeah the driver's side frame rail is not shown~
Just need weld the puzzle pieces together.
But it's raining here again, today !? SoCal

It's about time you guys got rain
but it's a day late and $ 2.00 short :x

NorCal is whom we SoCal peeps steal our water from anyways
around here most of it usually just ends up in the ocean !? :|

...assuring destruction along it's way. Lol

Supposedly the most rain for 1 day since 1909. Needed but as stated it doesn't really soak in and most of it runs off and is wasted. At least my plants and trees are watered now. Feels like Houston right now though.

Good to hear the link are shipping. That was quick. A few more paychecks and i'll order mine. Snap a pic when you get them.

Liking the frame. Very well thought out. Using a Tig, Mig, gas or ??

I just got your PM, was up at Axialfest from the 14th till last night. Looks like most of your questions are being answered. If you have any more feel free to give me a shout.

^ thanks... will give ya a shout if I need "thumbsup"

-------------------

Should have my custom links by the end of this week "thumbsup"
can't wait !

then I can do a little more measuring to see where I sit,
before I weld up the frame rails 8)

received my custom 1/4" titanium links from T. Mike @ hardcorerc...
and I liked them, quality workmanship, purdy to look at...

except

I guess we had a communications failure
and failed to discuss where the link extension(s)
should be.

The additional wheel base was extended
at the rear links primarily.

And tho' Maybe good for a U4 type chassis...
was not what I wanted for this build.

Kool thing... Titanium Mike has great customer care/service
and is willing to work with me on making a new set.

So these are getting returned...
and a new set will be bent and machined.
And will have the additional lengths
integrated equally at both front/rear of the donkey.

Anyone building an U4 or similar...
and wanting a longer rear suspension
might think to PM titanium mike (harcorerc)
and purchase these pre-made, custom 1/4" Ti links from him.
He may offer then at a fair cost.

Regardless of this hiccup...

Mike is a real nice guy and really deserves mention
and a considerate word for his sincerity and interest
in being sure his customer's are satisfied with their purchase.

Just be sure you're on the same page with Mike...
...cross your T's and dot yer I's...
before finalizing your order thru hardcorerc (Mike)

So tho' somewhat delayed...
I'll be excited to get back on track
once Mike can deliver those new links. 8)

Well that sucks. I am still learning but what do you mean by "where the link extension(s) should be"

Well that sucks. I am still learning but what do you mean by "where the link extension(s) should be"
I'm extending the wheel base from 13.9" (stock wraith) to 15.5"

But want the link(s) extended in length, both front and rear, equally.

so this round... we got it sorted out...
and rounded to the nearest whole #

So each link will be longer, then the original Wraith plastic links, by 20mm.

btw...
for those whom might not know...
and have interest in utilizing/purchasing a Wraith

The standard Wraith kit comes with a 13.9" WB
But... the Poison Spyder Wraith kit is 13.98"

Still waiting for 'dem replacement susp. links...

but staged and ready (a mess)
for when they do get here.

hope it's soon... 'cuz I'm fast becoming frustrated with the wait

Why didn't you make your own links???
Looked into that from the start.

But I didn't want to build those cheapo home brewed all-thread links.
Because I didn't like the inconsistencies of the material(s) fitment
as I was searching those on line for purchase.

Nothing is available at my local stores.
So, I couldn't trial fit things before making purchase.
Tolerance fitment was my main concern
and guess I didn't want to risk a return hassle if fitment wasn't precise.

I really liked the idea of using Ti or SS links anyway
^ (stronger/slide better/less grind wear then some other alloys)
but I didn't have the quality tools necessary to bend/machine/thread 1/4" Ti or Stainless rod.

Over kill maybe... but I like durability "thumbsup"

-----------------

Ti Mike (hardcorerc) just pm'd me that the new uppers and one lower is ready...
but he had to order more 1/4" Ti rod to bend/machine the remaining three lower links.

^ just found this out today... so I'll stop with the whining !? Lol
