Since this is just in the initial thought process and not even on paper i don't think it should go in the "Large Scale Rig" forum just yet.

I have had an SCX, Wraith, Yeti Small and got tired of the little rigs. I built a Yeti XL and converted a Losi LST XXL to brushless as well as a Losi 8T. I also just finished a Ford F350 Harley Davidson 1/6 Scale Crawler. I guess i was bit by the Big Scale bug.

I have seen some amazing 1:10 - 1.9 & 2.2 builds for U4 / KOH, Rock Buggy Crawlers on here. A few have been IFS which really intrigues me as it is not the norm. I saw this build http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/large-scale-rigs/304178-nylint-build.htmland the scale blew me away. I want to try something similar.

So far the plan is to build something with IFS and solid rear. I am not really sure if it will work as i am still learning suspension Geometry, drive line and link geometry. I plan to use the below items and little bits of info from all the great builds here on RCC.

IFS from Losi 8T-2.0 & 3.0 (14" Hex to Hex):
Using the entire front from bumper to just past the diff/trans. To include the chassis, Arms, diff, steering, turnbuckles etc. Cut the chassis just after the trans to accommodate fabbed mounting tabs for the rear links and cage. YES this is similar to a Yeti, Exo etc. Similar but not custom or plastic. From what i can see the U4's trans and pans are lower than the rockers. Not sure if this is a COG or suspension geometry thing. Still learning the reason behind that.

* A Losi 8T front end is darn near bullet proof and would provide plenty of articulation. The diff can be as close to locked as possible with heavy fluid, silly putty etc.

* If the chassis is used it can accommodate a wide variety of trans like Axial, Traxxas, HPI, Team Associated with just some new mounting holes. My TA Rival laughed at 6S but haven't researched gearing on any of these. Could be a mut point.

Yeti XL rear axle (14" Hex to Hex):
I am only aware of the YXL having a greater than 12" solid axle. With a few mods the YXL is pretty solid with the aftermarket slowly jumping on board to beef it up. The Kyosho's come close though.

40Series Rims/tires:
Would like to run the RC4WD Rok Loks and VP KMC 3.8 Rockstars.

Tube Chassis
Custom of course but tube work tied into front shock tower and rear of chassis where it was cut.

1/5 scale body or Panels:
The body off a Losi5T, RedCat etc are very close to 1/6 scale with a little slicing down the middle. I was also looking at just doing paneling.

Main questions are in theory would it work and has this been done before?

I want to see it done! Get after it.

Me too. Still throwing around ideas and wondering if it would actually work. Then it would be about collecting parts. Would be fun to try and a super long build time with my skills.

I am not trained in CAD or as a drafter so on paper it goes. Having never done this before it should be a trying but fun experience. Still researching but i guess Front, back and Top views are next? These are my first sketches.

If you see anything that will not work please point it out.
