32p spur and pinion?

Any of you guys try swapping out the stock 48p spur and pinion with 32p ones? I'm thinking about doing this, but I haven't the slightest clue on what to do with the slipper? Ideally, I would like to use the stock transmission cover.

I did for a bit. I used the Robison Racing spur, which is a direct replacement. And it still used the stock mounting hardware. It was a 58 tooth spur.

Downsides was the weight (steel) and noise. Otherwise it held up to my ROC412HD motor quite well.

I ended up swapping back to 48 pitch when I put the Crawlmaster sport in.

I would think is that the noise increase would be pretty dramatic. The drivetrain on these element trucks is extremely quiet, which I like. Our Redcat gen8 sounds like it's got rocks in the gearbox or something because of the bigger teeth and steel gears.

If you were going to overpower and bash the truck, the 32p would be a good idea, but for typical crawler motors/crawling style, I would think it would be a waste of effort.

The noise was quite a bit, as mine is the kit version, so all metal driveline.

The main reason I swapped over at the time was due to the motor’s shaft size. Harder to find 48P pinions for a 5mm diameter shaft.

My main reason for wanting to go 32P is due to the lack of 1/8 48P steel pinions in the 12 to 15 tooth range.
