Shock Choices

5" is 127mm.

So i cant find any thing other than the prolines that are 5" or in the 127mm range, anyone else find something close? Not looking to spend 60 bux a pair if possible. I see other rigs with duel setups but most like to run shorter shocks and im not wanting to limit travel or ride height. Any input would be appreciated, tia. 8)

121 is pretty close. Older ofna rear shocks were roughly 5", Tekno has some but they cost more. You can get Kings in 120mm, HR in 120/125mm, or you can get Axial shocks from the yeti. Neither are going to be as good. Plenty of stuff out there.

I actually pulled the shocks off my tekno sct and they are about the right length but too wide to fit right being that they are 16mm big bores and the cap doesn't fit right either standard or upside down. To bad to cuz i love them and have endless tuning options for them on hand. Ive seen axials but they are in the upper range of what seems reasonable $. I was just wondering if anyone has actual experience with shocks that are known to fit. I have searched and have found some long enough but not sure what will "fit" the shock mounts. Maybe an aftermarket shock mount is what is needed, something like what asiatees offers?

Unless you plan on getting major air off jumps with your bomber the second shock is just bling points. How much is the aesthetic worth to you?

I do like the stock Bomber kit shocks. That's probably the first Axial shock I've ever liked.

So I will do the mod with Traxxas 5525."thumbsup"

If you put longer ends on a shock to make it reach wouldn't you lose travel because the stroke of the shock is still the same no matter how long the ends are?

Dlux has the shock pivots for BB

Hang up and Drive

So do these work for the prolines? I have some on the way and have been trying to figure out the best pivots to go with.

The proline mounts don't allow for very much movement. I don't think they are the best solution.

Correct. The proline mounts do not provide much side to side movement so they are not the best choice for a live axle rig. The mounts are made for independent suspensions where they rotate around the mount. They will work, but as I said, are not the best solution. I have several of them as well....

You could also try to take a traxxas ball and lock it on a screw with a nut, put it in a drill and run it on sandpaper until you get it turned enough to fit the shock end.

I am using dual smt10 shocks in the rear and it allowed me to ditch the sway bar. Only running 1 spring on each side.

Check out Kyosho Velvets? Part Kyosho W5198V. They are same length at stock shocks as well. Super smooth shocks, probably one of the best shocks out there!
