mikemcE, have any of your suppliers told you what price you can sell their products for? Not trying to start a war here, just curious.
Many hundreds of years ago, I worked in retail. Items had a list price of course, and a dealer net. We (the store) could set our selling price at whatever we chose. We controlled our profit margin. So, if we elected to undercut the competitions' price, well, that was on us. Curious to read your take on this.
Both scenarios happen today all the time. When you agree to sell a company's product, the retailer typically agrees to terms of the supplier which often include must advertise pricing as well as restriction on discounts and gross profit margins. For example, look at Apple products and how their prices are the same across the board.
