Does anyone know why the Axial Yeti has an off center pumpkin rear axle design? The only reason I can think of is having a center differential would cause an issue of connecting the rear upper links to the axle.
I just took my vp offset axle off for a centered Ssd and man what a difference in heat build up on the mip.
I grease my MIP's with motorcycle chain wax, makes a world of difference. Mine aren't ever warmer than ambient temps.
Remember even centered, the travel is up and down and causes the same offset and bind. Unless you run a fixed suspension there is no major benefit of centered. Now offset offers benefits as the housing isn't located in the middle of the 2 wheels where it is most likely to hit and not be protected.
Do u use like maxima chain wax? That's a good idea.
My center pumpkin drastically brought temps down on my stock driveline. I noticed that it was seriously hot and went as far as to grease ir. It help a bit but still it got really hot. Un related I broke a back axle shaft and switched to a new axle all together. As a side effect I no longer have an extremely hot driveline. Are you saying it doesn't matter and the center pumpkin doesn't drastically fix the angle of the driveline and binding of the joints? From my experience it clearly does.I grease my MIP's with motorcycle chain wax, makes a world of difference. Mine aren't ever warmer than ambient temps.
