Evo inspired JK

WOW thanks for the props on my LJ! I feel very little compared to some of the stuff i see here day in and day out. Im getting better at it and like they say, practice makes perfect. Were those rocker arms custom machined/cut pieces or are they drilled out TLT links. From some angles, they look like tlt link mounts but i cant make them out from the distance of the pics. Cant wait to see what else you do to this bad boy! Thanks!

I drew them up and cut them out of some sheet metal i had lyin around, i cut the general shape out with these sheet metal shears i have, and then got them to the desired shape with the bench grinder. My initial prototypes i made out of styrene to get the proportions right.

Looks awesome dude "thumbsup" I actually havent done much with mine other then wheel it  Azonic did such a great job there wasnt any real room for improvement on it. All I did was get rid of the mayhems and out on some 1.9 Axial beadlocks with Rouge Elements wheel nuts. I think it looks better with the Axials. Ill snap a picture for you 8)

Thanks mike! I would be doing the same. I kind of figured there wasn't much else to do to it, things a beauty. Let's see the new wheels! Oh... If you ever get sick of that front bumper, i'd be glad to take it off your hands 8)

nice jeep. Where might i find these wheels and what size are they 1.9 or 2.2 thanks

Those are 1.9's non beadlocks. I got them off ebay, $20.50 a pair so i couldn't resist. Go to ebay.com, search eagle 1.9, you will see them.

Awesome build! I really like the cage work! Those wheels look siick too "thumbsup"

Thank you, hopefully a front bumper will be in the future. Just need to find the motivation to fire up the torch again.

I am in the process of a build similar to this. Could you post a pic of the link and shock mounts on the front axle? I want to get some of these T-Rex axles but want to be sure I can work it all out like I want to. Thank you sir.

Can you show us how you mounted your roll cage to the body?
Is it stout? doesnt it break of when you roll over? I mean the joint where the cage meets the plastic body. is that not a weak spot ?

Minor updates

Thanks mike, now i feel stupid even posting mine after that thing!

I know a bazzilion people have these JK's and probably haven't seen this trick. I saw someone do a similar version, but this is what i did. if you snap the mirror off at the bottom of the neck, you can run a screw up threw it, and it will spin in during impact, rather than break.

Someone wanted a pic of the cantilever set up, it's since been changed a little bit. This is basically how it still is, just beefier and different push rods. I'll get current ones later.

The rear fender wells were fun, these were probably made 6 months ago lol. They are attached to the body.

However, i did manage to get sick of how it was, and decided to rebuild it. I have done a little work, and taken pictures of my progress, stay tuned.

This was my original concept for the rebuild.

It wasn't so much the direction i was going to take, but it gave me inspiration, and so i went with the idea.

The front bumper is a GCM rokcountry, luckily I ended up with something half decent after cutting it up. I also decided to lay the spare tire down, and change the suspension so it travels a little more, and more smoothly. I'l show the updates next time i take pictures. But i'm happy with how she drives.

The bumper lines aren't distinguished very well, i need to paint it flat black to get rid of the gloss delrin glare.
I also installed the rc4wd high clearance knuckles on the rex's, gave em' a pounding, so far so good.

Turn your head! On photobuckets side it shows it rotated, but here its not, i gave up.

That's it for now.

This thing is awesome! great job can't wait to see the XJ. I've got that same body and really thinking about using it for my next build, especially after seeing this thing. That St. George pic is awesome!

Just qent back and re read your post about the dual rates sticking. Go pick up a traxxas shock rebuild kit and swap out the stock white o rings for the traxxas blue ones and youll thank me later. I did that on both LJ's i built and i havent had a sticky shock even since i did this. Like i said, youll thank me later. Great job on the improvements although i did like you OG rear tire carrier. Something about tire carriers get me all the time.

Absolutely amazing! You did a great job on this build. The pumpkin looks sick! Post video...I wanna see how it crawls! "thumbsup"
