Holy carp. When the page loaded, all I could see was the first pic, and I thought: "another schmo proud of his blah, blah, blah...." Then I scrolled down. So, so sweet. Strong work man.

Great job on the restoration. That bug looks like it would be a blast to run at the beach or dunes!

Looks great.
A Tamiya Sand Scorcher was my first RC. Handled like crap, mechanical speed controller would go nuclear without notice, and the batteries back in the day had less capacity than todays receiver batteries. I still miss it... . |

Man, that Scorcher looks so real. Where did you find the Sand Blaster jr. tires on the front? I can't find them anywhere, but I see them on so many Scorchers and Rough Rider's!

Nice work!!!! What a differance! You know that some sanding with 2000 grit on the front headlights will buff them clear again! Very nice job indeed

thanks guys
the rough rider tires are availble on ebay every now and then, but are pricey. i actually have some clear lenses for the lights, but since the windscreen was yellow as well(even after i sanded and buffed out) i thougt leaving them yellow gave a more aged , vintage look. the old srb's are sort of primitive by todays standards. stiff poor suspension, sort of like a vinatge 1:1 sports car. but are very scale and a blast to drive. with all the old metal parts and the abs bodies they also make a great resto project. i had a great time doing it and it is very rewarding to get all the positive feedback. here are some more pics: Last edited by seven.two; 11-22-2008 at 12:50 PM. |
