Quick video shot in the forest crossing the River Ching in London UK:

Spec:

TCS X-Trail Chassis
Mtronks Viper RV15 ESC
Novak 55 turn crawler motor
Axial AX10 transmission
3 racing drive shafts
Tamiya High Lift axles
Axial 1.9 rim lock wheels
3 racing dampers - droop set up

Tamiya High lift leaf suspension
RC4WD Bruiser leaf shackles
RC4WD Rock stomper tyres

Tamiya Hilux Body
Original interior (from 1980's)
Repro resin driver
Repro clear lexan windows

Working winch
3 Racing lighting -- indicators, brake lights and reversing
Tamiya lighting unit for main lights activated by mini servo

Spektrum DX8 transmitter, AR8000 receiver
Using 11ms frame rate to make 3 racing lights work
Hitec steering servo HS 645MG

The receiver and most of the wires are in the (maplins) water-proof box at the front and the control boxes, swtich servo and loads of wire are in the tool safe in the back of the bed - I made this out of plasticard and covered it with very thin checker plate plastic sheet.

It uses six of the channels on the AR8000:

Steering - rudder (but controlled by the aileron on 100% mix - to allow all of the driving controls on the right, but avoid the 11ms frame rate , which would burn out the analogue steering servo).

Throttle / brake lights / reverse lights - elevator

Turn indicator lights - gear/aux1

Winch - aux3, proportional dial

Main / side driving lights - Gear, Tamiya light unit with micro-servo

I did put a Hot Racing dig unit on it (because it was there), but the shaft angle was too much & I couldn't really see the point for this car, so I took it off.

Really good fun to drive. took a while to make. Not sure what to do with it next, probably make it a bit more scale.

Any thoughts?

Update

Been doing a bit of work on the rig. Have installed 4 link suspension arms at the back, raised the ride height a little and put 2.2 inch Axial beadlock wheels with Proline Hammer tyres (which are weighted). Total transformation of the truck, in the forest it just goes through anything (that is not solid wood) and it even 'crawls' quite well. First video of the new set up below (witha couple of other cars that I was messing around with today). Axial Wraith is in the post, but I still think that the Hilux will remain the favourite (I always wanted the original when i was a kid). Enjoy the video:
