I need to get a new servo for my son's axial wraith, any budget servos and servo horn recommendations? thank you

I run Solar D772's in most of my trucks. For 1.9" tires they work very well. However, in my wraith with 2.2" tires I have switched to the Holmeshobbies servo. Much better as far as torque.
Solar D772 is $23 HH is $90

I would say the 645 is ill equipped for handling 2.2 tires. Depending on your budget id say the savox 1231 or 1230sg which come with free aluminum steering horns on ebay for 75$ or a hitec 7954 which are 80-85 on ebay or a servo with atleast 200oz of torque like a tower pro 208oz Depends on how heavy tour sons rig is. And whether you want to have to replace it again in the near future...

awesome, thanks bud, i'll pick that one up. how many T (tooth) is that?

23 tooth comes with a few horns

As I was saying don't expect it to perform like a total champion.
I run my servo at 8 volts and it wasnt pushing my 2.2 wheels "Easily".
Thats why I switched to the HH servo.
but as a cheap servo it takes a beating and asks for more.
It's not waterproof.

I coat my servo board with conformal coating.

I've tried several Solars. They are great to make servo winches out of but that's all I'll use em for now. About the best deal on eBay right now is the Hitec 7954, then the Savox 1230.

You do have a BEC in your rig right?

ty for the info, what's a BEC? I don't have one.

I moved this to the Wraith forum.

Never heard of a BEC, either...

Which BEC do I need to run a Solar D772 with Aexial AE-5 ESC and a 7.2v nimh?

Get a castle 10a BEC. Find a buddy with a castle link to set the voltage or maybe the LHS can do it for you. This is a required item in any scaler or crawler IMO. I'm guessing you have the stock axial radio? If so set the BEC to 6.3v. It's pushing it a little bit I've not had issues. I run my savox servos without issue at this voltage. If you get a solar you will NEED 8v and the RX won't take it for long. So you will need to learn how to wire the servo around the RX, or bypass it. Basically just take the red wire from the servo out of the plug, pull the red wire out of the BEC plug that goes to the RX and connect them. I'm sure someone will post up soon with a better description of that.

Since you asked for a budget option, there's a $20 Turnigy that I use in the link below, and +1 on the 10a cc bec.

The Hitec 7950 is a beast on 7.4 volts, I couldnt believe the difference between it and my previous 7955 at 6.0 volts, much faster and stronger with my heavy 2.2 wraith on Pit Bull Rock Beast II's, the 7955 is now in my MRC. If you get a Castle BEC drop the extra $20 for the castle link so you can set the voltage on it, especially if your running a Castle MMP (or HH Torque Master) like most of us.

Im running the hitec 7950 on 7.4 and cc bec. 487oz and throws my tsl xl's around like no ones business. If you are getting the castle creations bec be sure to get their USB link or you wont be able to adjust the voltage on it. you can pick them up from 21-25$. Glad I did because when I plugged it in my cc bec was default to 5v even though it says default is 6v.
