Hello and thanks for looking at my post. Im new to the hobby. I just got a Redcat Gen8 V2 Scout II for CHRISTmas. I had RC cars growing up but that’s no comparison to what’s out there these days.

I’m wanting to make a few upgrades to my Gen8. I have read that a lot of people mention the Holmes Hobby 550 motor. 27T seems to pop up a lot. When I went to look for one to buy I noticed there were a number of different Holmes Hobbies 550 motors available for example, there’s a TorqueMaster Pro, TorqueMaster Expert and a TrailMaster Sport. Could somebody please explain the difference in these. Also what is the difference in the 21T 27T etc. ? Especially for my application. Thank You for your time. Mark

At the end of the day, I would say quality of materials used and perspective use of said motor.

Some motors are better suited (turn wish) for some types of rigs.
Then some motors are just built with better components, aka the pro line for example while the sport line is more budget friendly.

I have a 12t Crawlmaster Sport in my Gen 8 & it's perfect. The Crawlmaster motors are 5 slot so they have a smoother start up than the Trailmaster series. In addition, you might want to think about grabbing a Hobbywing 1080 esc. Along with the Holmes motor, it's the perfect combo for the Gen 8.
