Wondering if anyone knows what type of rubber RC tires are made of. There are many things called rubber these days, and many if them aren't really rubber at all. It's possibly just a pipe dream, but I'd like to try to mold my own sidewalls. I've machined some molds for plastics before but this is a different beast. There's really not much information on rc tire makeup I can find.

I'm sure they are, but I'm just looking for the base material, they sure aren't natural rubber, they would smell much different when you cut/melt them.

They don't taste like licorice, if they did, I'd have eaten all mine by now.
Seriously though, someone's got to know this?

I was going to say silicone, or silicone rubber, and looks like it is on one of those lists. hey I'm smart. "thumbsup"

once you know the ingredients, you'll now have to figure out ratios, and reactions.... unless you have a lab, or money is no object, I'd have to say leave it to the experts, but I love DIY, and I encourage you to figure it out.
You just might end up blowing a ton of dough on nothing but a science experiment.

Nope, not a chemical engineer, just a hobbyist, I do have 2 chemical engineer friends, but they both ask the same startup questions I do.
