What non-crawler kit for unsensored brushless Rock Rey electronics?

I'm gutting my Rock Rey for a sensored brushless system.

Now I'm looking for suggestions on a 1/10 kit to put the Fuze 130A esc and 2800kv motor into. I'm open to any suggestions besides crawlers and rock racers, because I already have those.

Honestly, ANYTHING that'd be fun for a sensorless system, especially to rip around the neighborhood. The SR10 Dirt Oval car is what first came to mind, but they don't make that in a kit.

Thanks!

You could but a Traxxas Slash 4x4, or Rustler 4x4, 'roller' off eBay, and install it there. The 'stock' motor for both vehicles is 3500kV, but the stock ESC is only 2-3S. As the Fuze ESC handles up to 4S, the lower kV of the motor wouldn't be affected. With the stock gearing, the Fuze 2800kV on 3S would be much faster than the Traxxas 3500kV on 2S. Heck, you might even have to slightly gear-down. But, it would make a GREAT combination.

To "compare", I recently replaced the HW ESC & 4100kV motor I had installed in my R4sty (Rustler 4x4 nickname, just as 'Sl4sh' is the nickname for a Slash 4x4), with a Mamba X & Tekin ROC412 HD 2300kV, gearing up the pinion by 2 teeth. On 3S, it's slightly faster than the stock electronics w/ stock gearing on 2S...yet, it runs cooler AND it has more torque.

Just an idea...but, one very well-worth considering.

I don't know anything about Traxxas, so I'll start researching right now! I like building more than driving, so I was hoping to do a kit build instead of getting a roller. Your suggestion is at the top of my list at this point, though. Thanks a lot!

There are lots of buggy kits. The Kyosho Optima is my favorite build if you are looking for something different. The buggy's claim to fame is its ability to make the driver smile.

Speaking of making one smile, a basher is also a safe bet. Plus, they have the added feature of being difficult to break.

Although both are a great deal of fun, I lean towards the buggy. Because of their low center of gravity and wide wheel base, they spend most of their time with the shiny side up. Maybe it is an old man thing, but after a while, I get tired of chasing down the basher to flip it back on its wheels.

I'm right with you about being tired of having to flip trucks back over.

I just looked up Kyosho kits... I think the optima buggy might be a little old school for me, even though I was an 80's kid. This Kyosho kit looks rad though... for a 2wd... that's backordered...
