What Foams.

I got this set of Pro Line USA beadlock rims and PitBull Rock Beasts ii tires.
I'm not sure what foams are currently in them, but they are nice and soft.
Good crawler foams for this combo.

But that leads me to my issue.
I got them to run on my Ryft rig.
I need more firm foams for them F and R.

They are the 2.2s so 5.5 inches tall.

What foams are decently firm to offer good side wall strength/support, but not so firm that the tires can grab some rock when there moving slow?

I'll open one of the wheels soon and see what foams are currently installed.

But I need to source a more firm foam. Would prefer something that offers a different firmness.

I've looked at the Dirty Richards, but the biggest foam I see are 137mm.
I think those foams are a little small for what I need.

Looking for suggestions.

I got these for my Rock Rey with rock beast II's. Heavy weights with medium outer. I'd recommend them for sure.

These look like nice foams Wasnt sure how firm they would be though.

Figured use and experience would be a better lead.

Do the sidewalls hold up well turning under speed without much tire rollover?

No rollover at all… the heavyweight foam is pretty rigid. The medium outer gives some flex, but it wouldn’t be an appropriate foam for a crawler-only rig. Perfect for something fast like a Rock Rey or Ryft, though.

im running a 120mm tire inside my pitbull rockbeast2s i realy enjoy the combo on a heavy trail truck it would work for the rift too but the extra weight of the innertire might be too hard on the axle internals if your realy bouncing it hard
they might be right on here with the heavy close cell foams juzt dont leave it sitting on itz wheels
the innertires are cheap about $25 for 4 these days a good budget option but it realy dose put the weight in the wrong spot for this aplication
in my opinion anyway but it is a option $60 is a tough pill to swallow

My "crawler" set of 2.2 wheels/tires/foams has arrived. These Pitbull foams are half the price of the crawler innovations. I haven't mounted any yet, but just squeezing them, I can tell they're probably not what you want for a ryft. I'll give you a comparison with my other set when I'm done mounting these.

The dos Piezas Are well priced, Look good, but I think you're correct, a bit too soft and not firm enough for a tall sidewall. JM2C from Looking.
But Yes a personal experience test is always better suited.

ya Ferp< I considered that, but as you likely summized, they'd not be too suited for speed. I can imagine they may be pretty unbalanced. unless set absolutely perfect. and even then.

I will likey end up balancing the wheels for the Ryft as it will see some speeds, and a balanced wheel keeps things way more controllable while bouncing along at speeds.

Good info/input so far. Keep it going. I'm sure I wont be the only one with this question on the Ryft.

I mounted one of each on an ar44. I think I actually added more side pressure to the wheel with CI foams... I had to grip the opposite wheel to add down pressure so it wouldn't just slide off the mat. Can't wait to get the aliens on the rocks!

Pressing straight down on the pumpkin, they seem to have about the same resistance to gravity (until the CI outer bottoms out on the heavyweight inner). Neither one wanted to flatten out completely.

So ya, the Dos Pieza's do appear to be too soft for good speed runs, but great for rocks as they look like they'll conform well.

Out of the cart they go. lol

At the end of the day, Looks like Ima be spending 28.00 a pair of foams. lol

Personally I have thought that the proline foams are to big and over stuff your tires and I prefer CI foams for the variety of sizes. That being said I had a set of proline 2.2 foams sitting around and put them in the stock ryft tires. They fit like they are made for them, at 6" tall im guessing they will be to big for the RB's

Picked up a set form a guy on a facebook Ryft page new. They fit pretty well actually. They do kind of 'overfill them' a smidge but its not really too bad. firm sidewall, and still soft face, treadside and not too much give. Considering I wont be running on tall rock piles or such in most cases, these may work out pretty well. If they do feel like too much, I'll toss them in the stock wheels, and try a set of the 28.00 a pair CIs in firm and a medium for the front.

These PL rims I have here had weights (12 1/4 grams) on each rim, going to leave them and help with a bit of the lower cog hopefully...

but I have to trim the center part of the PL foam so they slide into and ride well on the rims. I'll likely leave the foam/rim combo together for that reason and swap tires on them if I want.
