What did you do to/with your Rock Rey today?

I stared at it imagining what it would look like with some aluminum panels... just saying...

This my beast I've taken to bits about 15 times now totally stripped down the Ali chassis and it's getting easier the thing that bugs me the most is remembering where all the specific screws go but I'm slowly learning there specific locations [emoji23]

I've now got a punisher shaft in the rear and looking at the hot racing front cv's
Got the 1410-3800kv castle motor and mamba x (slowly sailing to me ) via Japan and stopping for a break at each patch of land for blessing to continue its pilgrimage lol
Got the g6 coming up this weekend so hopefully secretly praying it will arrive in time to seriously kick butt [emoji23]

I feel for you! 15 times...yikes...that's like slamming your finger in a door over and over! Lol

How did you find the VP axle?

Any reason you're thinking about replacing the stock universal setup?

Yeah it sucks , but I'm a gluten for punishment lol,

I just want to beef everything up to minimise the breakages and prefer the scale lock of the punisher shafts plus a tiny bit more clearance going over stuff as the punisher is slightly thinner ,

The vp axle is very smooth and a thing of beauty and also has enlarged bearings on the pinion which seems to be the way forward the plastic stock failed after ten mins of being on the beach

The latest thing to break is the front diff all 4 screws have sheared off leaving no drive to the front not quite sure not this happened but I've got a hot racing cup on its way
I've locked the centre diff and 1 mil in the front
And the difference is dramatic flys up and over obstacles with ease [emoji12]

Also want to get more weight upfront and the hot racing cv's are heavier and stronger so win win [emoji106]

So this morning I finally fitted my new motor and got it all updated firmware wise took it for a quick spin up and down my lane and snapped the diff cup screws again for the 2 time !!! This takes this the piss ! So back on the bench again to wait for more bits , I'm getting 3 hot racing Ali diff cups now and 12 fatter screws seen some chap using m2 cap heads instead of the monkey metal puny countersunk screws supplied with the stock diff cup the only explanation I can think is that the wheels iv fitted are to heavy for the diff ??? I hope vanquish are working on something to replace this inferior design maybe a keyed ring that locks into the cup [emoji120][emoji36]

Were those the 2x6mm 10.9 grade screws that came with the HR diff cup? Time to tap it to accept 2.5mm 12.9 grade?

No these were the standard stock screws in the standard plastic shite cup lol ,
the HR screws look a bit more sturdy so hopefully will take a bit more loading , but the whole drive it for ten mins and realise something's else is broken and need to tear it apart is becoming tiresome now [emoji36][emoji36][emoji36]
I'm going to replace every optional bit made by HR and rename it the hot rock lol [emoji23]

He said he's getting 3 HR diff cups so I'm assuming they were plastic. Im using 2x8mm 12.9 flat head from amain on my aluminum diff cups. Remember that the locker/spool doesn't fit so it will need dremel work. I've already been in contact with HR and told them about the issue so hopefully we'll see a corrected one for the RR.

I got bored today and tired of looking at the stock body so I decided to start trimming. I cut out the front and rear fenders and cut the chassis body posts to flush mount the body. I'm much happier with the look. The wide body look has irritated me since the beginning. The roof is next on the chopping block to lower the profile.

So people are breaking the 4 screws that go into the differential cup inside the three gearboxes...yikes...

They look similarly spec'd to a Yeti and I guess if you're running 3S and the BR or RR on asphalt etc then I guess they may snap but mine weren't even loose when I pulled two diffs apart after nearly 3 months use.

I guess we need:

Billet bulkhead
Solid spools rather than lockers
Billet diff cups and high tensile screws

Still, even with the third member or full housing the beef up list is rather short.

I think the Twin Hammers diff cup with the Losi locker inside is a good fix, though I only have 1/2 dozen packs or so on that setup. I'd buy a 1 piece spool if it were available, but I'd still want the aluminum diff cup up front anyway. The stock diff cup lasted a looooong time on strictly 3s with about 1/2 of my use on the street so if the Hot Racing TH part lasts any longer, I'll be happy.

I am definitely in support of someone building a billet front housing/bulkhead. I think with that, the only breakages would be from f-ups and stupid crashes. I could live with that.

I messaged HR about an aluminum front bulkhead with dual 5x13 bearings and an aluminum center diff housing but they said they don't have anything in the works yet. Hopefully VP or SSD is already on it though.

I bought mine just yesterday. Already ordered some new wheels/tires and I' am going to install my Savox SC-1268 servo. Also got the 25T Losi alum servo horn. I have some Insicision upper rear links on order as well.

went with 5200mah / 50c 2s lipos for now. May go to 3s but I think 2s will be cool for awhile. Hafta wait at least 6 days until I get my batts. Booooohooooo

Finally got around to cutting my body panels. Turned out pretty decent. But I'm super stoked about how they hug the chassis now!

I installed my rear upper links, Savox servo and alum servo horn. Trying to mount my beadloc wheels and the damn tires. My hands are bleeding! Call me a medic peeps!

Of course I'll post pics once the new shoes are on.
