hI Guys again.

I did see this Picture today

asc40119.jpg

This is really cool. Lexan body.

It is painted Red inside. then Matte black outside?
I like to do something similiar to my next new Lexan body.
It will be a Bed only body.
And i like to have this Weathering effect style badly now to that.

I dont like matte black. What other colors you can have? That looks nice and original kind off ?
Any inspiration pictures? Links maybe ?

What paint is strong and good paint lexan body outside?
I like to use Sandpaper and do some weathering when the outside is finished..

STRONG PAINT TO LEXAN OUTSIDE?
Nice if the Paint last and stays long time outside where it is not sandpapered
Offcourse we like to have something that would last.

Is there a specific good paint to use outside to Lexan bodies that stays?.

Inside is no problem. Just use Tamiya PS or some else brand for lexan, Plasti Dip works great inside also.

It is the outside paint i am worried about only.,
What to use here ?

Do i need use some clear primer first outside maybe ? Or use fine sandpaper outside the body before paint ? Maybe this helps the outside-paint last longer?

I need help from you guys here again.
Remember this is LEXAN bodies, not hard-bodies this time

Maybe there is good Youtube links also? About weathering Lexan ?
Share everything you know and have please.[/I][/U]

Weathering effect is cool if you have old style body.
Like to see more of these in Lexan bodies.
I know there is alot Hard Bodies made this way.

I think Lexan bodies deserves this effect also in RC Crawlers.
Question is how to make it last and durable ?
Some one must know, mastered this already here i believe :)

Share info, Pictures, Videos, everything that will help me and others who like to do this. please

a good base coat of PS paint on the outside, and most spray paints will work flawlessly.

Bubbles, aka Old Blue had this.

Nice, thank you so much.

I must double check with you all

Is this the right way to do it long lasting:

Outside
A-PS same color also to ground weathering inside

B-Then TS main color on top over that PS ground outside?
Or should i only use PS outside always? No TS at all?

C-Last Clear coat outside to protect the main color outside well after
Weathering is done with fine sandpaper.
This last clear coat should be in PS or TS ?

Will TS sit on Flex Lexan body outside after PS grounding first for shure?

I believe PS is best for inside and first 2 layers outside. The weathering color.

Then TS Main Color ? Not PS?
Sandpaper Weathering effect outside.
Last 2-3 Clear coats TS

Is this the right way do it?

Before paint outside, remove the film outside offcourse, do the inside first.

Before paint both sides: First:
Scots Brite the body inside and outside.
Clean all fat with Brake Cleaner or hot soap. Dry it well.
Mask windows inside and outside.
Then paint

This Weathering thing makes alot more work. And color.
This is more expensive to do also. You want it to last because this
the best way Possible.

And if it works, then it is worth the extra money and work.
Because it is so cool , oldschool thing on oldschool Bodys.
This is very cool i think when it comes to old style Crawlers and trailers.

This is maybe not the best for pure Hardcore-Crawler.
It is mostly Trail thing/ Scale thing.
Anyways i want this to my Crawler/Trail rig, i do both.

There is anyways nothing new today that is specially made to Lexan outside?
For Weathering Effect?

What have Element Crawler maker done self here?
Did they use Some special blend modern color or
is it basic like PS type, and one TS type they used also?
Dit they only use PS Lexan type color all the way?
Does it last?

Today we have only these PS and TS ? like before?
There is nothing new special made for Weathering Lexan 2023 still right?

One more thing. Bonus question. How to make a Crack in Lexan window that looks real ? Just cracks, no hole please.
Must look like normal long going decent size stone chips at the front window.

Not gun-shot with hole.
Just cracks at passenger side

Hard question:
Is there a way to reinforce the crack , still have clear window, i mean if the car tumbles, and something hit that crack, it may make one hole that i wish to avoid.
There must be some Clear protect film , security film? maybe they are big and expensive pieces only awaible? Or can i buy smal cheat also like A4 size ? cut self.
Maybe Mobile phone Display/screen protector film? i have seen there is some cheap ones that may work?

Anyways most important i know what color types to use and get strong Lexan Weathering effect outside in Lexan. This is what this treadh is about.
Bonus tips are welcome, Like cracks in window and so on. Everything that matches Old hard uset vehicle.

Rust effekt
Weathering
Window Crack
and so on

if you scratch the window with a hobby knife, you can get convincing looking cracks, do not go all the way through.

In painting my bodies, I have used regular rustolum paint over ps with good results. so Ts is okay over ps. I also have done many bodies with only ps on the outside. it gives you a duller, satin finish, rather than gloss.

PS outside on this one.

Rustoleum on this one.
