Hey all,

I'd like to do some upgrades to my Redcat Gen 8 and below are the items I'm considering. Would someone be kind enough to double check my work to make sure I'm not purchasing incompatible items?

Still learning a ton and don't have all these things committed to memory yet.

Thanks!

and one additional question,

Does anyone know where this youtuber got this body? I have a 4Runner and would be thrilled to be able to make a scale model of it.

I’ve seen downloadable files for 3D printing available for this generation runner. Only downside is it takes a lot of sanding & gluing of multiple pieces to make the complete body, but well worth it in the end.

I’ll look around & see if I can find those links. I know MFab is one company that sells 3D printed models, but they only have the 5th gen runner & taco rn.

Not too sure on scale. Fairly certain it’s a 1/10. $20 to download, then just gotta 3D print it or find someone that can do so.

Both of those parts are fine with the Gen 8. The body in that video is homemade but Element RC just released a similar unlicensed body in lexan.

Though for the ESC you will likely need either and adapter or a new plug soldered onto either the battery or ESC. The Gen 8 RTR uses DEANs plugs but this ESC used XT60 (if you pick a different plug to convert over to the XT60 is favored by most)

I will say places like RPP Hobby and Amain are better sources for crawler parts and easier to browse, shipping is free with larger orders too. you can also search just parts for the gen 8 https://www.rpphobby.com/category_s/631.htm https://www.amainhobbies.com/redcat-gen8-parts/c13698

To add to what Humbolt said, there have been reports of counterfeit ESCs and motors selling on ebay. Do yourself a favor and buy from RPP, Amain, Horizon or even Amazon before buying from ebay.
