Well this is my first kick at a true scaler. Most of my build to date have been performance based with a hint of scale, but always more aggressive that real 1:1 rigs. This build is going to be more of an outdoorsman's daily driver.

Parts:

Trail finder 2
RC4WD Defender D90 body kit
Tamiya Wild Willy driver
TF2 4 link
Red leaf ip front even though its not true to scale
Going to try out the new Ridge-line bumpers, but I think they are too new school looking for the body.... This might change.
XVDs
Bulldog winch
Durratrax VW roof rack
Lots of lights and lots of detailed painting!
1.55 growlers when the come out.

This is what I'm going for.

Got a wild willy driver and tried detailed painting for first time since I was 12... I think it came out alright.

Got Willys head done, and the base coat done on the body. I used tamiya mica red... The cap was much darker than how it came out, so I will need to do a few more coats.

Lights a grill installed and added a bit of patina on the bumper...I think I'll have to add some rust too.

I'll be working on the chassis this weekend so I hope I'll have time to get it rolling.

Well, I got the chassis built, but it needs to be modified to the the body to fit. The frame rails are about 1" too long out the back. I also had to use short rod ends on the 4 link, and relocate the mounting points a bit to get the wheelbase correct.

Once the frame is trimmed and I get the drivetrain and interior installed I'm hoping it will sag a bunch because its sitting way to hight right now.

Well I was able to trim the chassis and mount the rear bumper. I threw it all together to sort out how to mount it. I'm thinking about leaving the interior fixed to the chassis and using Velcro to secure the body. Still not sure where the electronics are going to go...

Added some checker plate to the hood and rocker panels, and painted the flares. The electronics are in and I'm working on wiring up the many many lights!

I was able to get the rig to a drivable state and too it out for a test run. I have to say that I am impressed! My other rigs are very performance driven so I thought this one was going to have me groaning, but it pulled some hard lines today. I was driving soft and staying away from potential roll over lines though. It felt very stable and well planted for such a top heavy body and interior. Here are some poser shots, but at least they are off the work bench!

Still needs a spare and a few more scale bits, but it's running and I'm loving the low geared 2 speed on 3s :p

Made some tow straps and a few bungees tonight. I think the came out alright. Still need a few things to fill up the rack.
