I see quite a few trophy trucks on here so here's mine. It's getting closer to done so I'll try and catch you guys up real quick. For more details here's the build thread from the beginning 2015 desert build off.. '79 f-250 - RCShortCourse

It's tig welded 3/16 solid rod for the most part. I built the twin I beam front suspension and I am using wraith knuckles that pivot off of tapped king pins made of 1/4 rod

The chassis/ truck cab is more prerunner or weekend toy styled rather than trophy truck. It'll have a full interior. The center consul/ tunnel houses the motor and trans.

Here's a couple pics

The rear axle is a wraith axle. Mocked up with wraith trailing arms but I'll be building my own trailing arms and upper links. The and is flipped to achieve a better drive line angle. I'm using a exo trans because I'd it's size and simplicity

And Most recently I've mocked up the swing steering. I'll be making more permanent links and a servo mount very soon.

Having a slight problem with the forum, it's only letting me press the like button once.

I almost think that front end should be in the "Pics that make you go WTF" thread. I can't even...

Thanks everyone! Yes it does get full range of steering. I'll post a video of the steering once the servo is installed

I like that steering setup, and the truck's looking great!

With the way the upper links are angled, I'm assuming it'll act as an ackerman steering setup? (Meaning the when turning the inner wheel turns sharper?) Or is it an equal throw setup?

Love the build this thing is bad a$$. just one question do you think the radius arms will need some kind of pivot points where they meet the control arm?
and im subscribed

The tie rods both throw equally. Ackerman is related to the tie rod attachment points on the knuckles in relation to the width and wheelbase of the truck. This set up has a little Ackerman I believe. I'll double check when I get home. The best part of this steering tho is I have no bump steer through out the travel.

No pivots are needed here. With out shocks the front drops almost to the point that the front tires touch. The only limiting factor is the pivot balls in the rod ends. It is much stronger welded solid and I'm planning on gusseting that attachment point also for strength. This heavy old truck should be able to take some abuse when it's finished lol!

Thanks again for your compliments guys. This front suspension and steering set up is the reason I'm building this. I wanted to see if I could replicate the 1:1 setup and have it function as well. But mostly because it looks sick as f**k!!

Thanks guys. I built this piece by piece from a design I had in my head. It's my first custom build and I'll tell you next time I will plan it out better! At least some detailed drawings. I'm happy with the out come so far but I see where the wood dowel mock up and stuff would help out greatly.

Steering is complete! Servo mount made and new links done!

Here's a video. It's a little sloppy. The plastic knuckles I'm using for mock up are worn and there's no bushings in one. The screw's are poked thru but no bolts on the back but it shows how it works.
