This is my new set of 1.9 Rock Monster V2 beadlocks from The Scale Shop
https://thescaleshop.webs.com/beadlockwheels.htm
I’ve wanted a set for a couple years; hooray for aging another year and still getting toys, lol!

I’m going to do this in stages since I won’t have the tires and scale hardware until next week. I’m planning to put the wheels on my SCX10 v1 G6 that I liberated from my kids (oops, I mean still sharing) since we built a v2 together. I converted the v1 to a truggy earlier with a honcho roll cage and a Proline 1966 Ford F-100 front. May also convert it to a 1966 Bronco at some point - also a Proline body - wish I had a full size one of those!

Here’s the wheels themselves. They’re beautifully made and a sweet design. I haven’t put them together yet, but I’ve had great luck with my 2.2 TSS Hutchinson beadlocks, so no worries there. Can’t wait to mount them up with scale hardware!

Those are good looking wheels!!!

I have his Robby Gordon's in the 2.2 flavor and love them.

Can we get a before pic of the SCX10 truggy?

TSS makes nice wheels. I have the 2.2 Hutchinsons as well (in black because sadly they are discontinued and raw was out of stock) and they are very nice.

These look great too. Can't wait to see them mounted up.

No problem! I’m currently running 2.2 Mud Slingers on Vanquish Method wheels. Both have been fun, but it felt like time to mix things up. I’ll probably run the Mud Slingers on my Bomber next - see how they do in the snow when it arrives! The body was a learning experience for me. I hadn’t tried painting numbers or other text before.

I was surprised the body / cage fit on the shorter G6 wheelbase since both are meant for a Honcho - happy it worked out. The Mud Slingers rub slightly in the front at full steering. I’m hoping the 1.9’s fit better, although I’m getting similar OD tires, so maybe not, lol!

No doubt about TSS making nice wheels! I really like the style, how different / distinct they are from other options, and the fantastic machining.

I’m sorry to hear about the 2.2 Hutchinsons, they’re a favorite for me. I’m happy you were able to get a set!

I’m also excited to see Rock Monsters mounted up. The hardware is on its way; hoping I’ll have a chance to put at least one or more wheels together before the weekend, although my work week may not cooperate ...

I have owned a few sets of the 1.9 Rock Monster over the years. They are very well made and give a nice dimensional look. I would still own and run them if it wasn't for my last/final pm to TSS . I hit him up when he announced the re-release of the 1.9 Monster. I contacted TSS to purchase a spare for a super sick buggy I had just welded up......... The response crushed any chance of a future TSS purchases for me. He responded..... that he wasn't breaking up sets and suggested that I buy another set of 4 and I would have 4 spares....... Um no.... He lost a pile of money and support with that comment.... I had just purchased 3 sets of his brass knuckles. I didn't open a single set... I sold them all and his 1.9 Rock Monsters..... B-Clip out...

That's a harsh overreaction IMO. There are lots of companies that won't break up sets of two or four just to sell a spare to you.

Take it for what it is Jato.... I sent tons of money to TSS over the years. I don't see breaking up a set of wheels to accommodate one of your great customers as an issue... I guarantee he could have advertised a spare option and they would easily sale... I am a loyal kind of old school guy. Taking care of folks that are good to you is what I do and expect from others.... Not harsh by any means ...overreaction nah

Forgot to mention..... If he would had simply said I don't want to break up any sets at this time...I would have understood and carried on with my day. He had to add the.... buy another set to get your spare then you will have 3 spares bullshit.....

I’m waiting on the scale hubs, but the tires and hardware arrived, so I mounted up the first one! I’m wrapping the wheels with RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Claws; the scale hardware is from LockedUp and Gearhead, 4-40 acorns for the SLW hubs and black 2 mm hexes for the wheels. Here’s the goodies:

And here’s the tire mounted on the wheel. The tire compound is super sticky. Hard to get the tires out of the bag. The lighting in my basement work area is terrible for pictures - doesn’t do them justice. Can’t wait to mount the rest of the wheels this weekend and try them out on the truck!

thanks for all the love fellas! this is one of my favorite wheels too.

Banana you have been great to us over the years , trust me that has not gone unnoticed ;)
but our small 1 man show is both our asset, and our own enemy. sadly our budget only allows us to make 8-15 sets. and no money for spares on a chance that someone wants one. the risk is far greater than the reward. we get asked for a spare about once every 2 years. and thats not per design, thats amongst all our designs and sizes.

because of our small runs we have to keep our profit margins tiny to keep our street price competitive with the big boys that have 100s machined at a time. so breaking up a set would mean going in the red on the entire batch of wheels if that set doesnt sell all the broken up spares.

any customer of ours knows we always go above and beyond to make our customers happy, there are something that are out of our control that we simply cant do though. and im always honest and upfront about it when that happens"thumbsup" weve been around here as a vendor over a decade with no bad reviews for a reason.8)

thanks guys and banana for your support!

I'm happy to have two sets of your wheels now, awesome designs and fabrication and worth every penny!

Second tire mounted and thread locked all of fasteners I’ve installed so far; feels like I should have made more progress, but it’s probably best to savor these experiences, [emoji106]! I’m liking the Baja Claws on these wheels, should look sweet / perform well on the truck!

I completely agree, Lol! They are sweet and easy to mount. Scale hardware is also a lot of fun. I’d recommend either LockedUp or Gearhead. RPP carries both.

I like your tires. What are they? Can’t quite read the labels on the sidewall.

Enjoy your wheels. Awesome to have a set!

Ok, so this update took longer than expected. Hard to believe how the weekends and evenings slip away.

The scale hubs from LockedUp arrived a while ago, but the truck needed some work: broken shock, broken winch, scratches from too many roll-overs on the Crawl Space rock pile, missing scale parts, ... I sanded out the body scratches and tried following this up with plastic polish, but no luck recovering the original shine, although the deep scratches came out well. So I painted it with dull coat. Pretty happy with the final result.

Here’s the wheels on the truck

Super happy with how it all turned out; couldn’t be happier with the wheels! I also recommend TSS Lockerz scale hubs; I’ve had great luck with them and a set of TSS 2.2 Hutchinsons!

They are the new pitbull beserkers, 1.9 4.34 all. Perfect height for smaller rigs.
