Those running 11T pinions

Are you having to max out the mesh on the stock motor mount "slots"? I'm new to this, and it seems that just maxing out the available adjustment is about right on mesh for an 11T pinion. I could try the paper method and see if it gives me the right mesh, but there's a bit of wiggle and seems alright.

Should I just watch out for excess heat/noise on the first run to diagnose too tight of mesh?

Motor is a Spektrum 2800kv (basically the same motor as the new R2 540L) if that helps. I tossed the 2100kv in my TRX-4, so I'll see how I get on with the 2800kv, worst case I'll either swap in the 2100kv, or order another and toss this one in the SCX10.3.

Also, if anyone is curious, with the Spare Time Hobbies Flat Skid, the R2/Spektrum 540L JUST fits without hitting the link mount "thumbsup"

You pretty much have it. If it's not completely maxxed out, it's darn close. I took a drum sander to the side of the transmission case and used a carbide burr to elongate the slots and managed to get good mesh with a 10t.

Mesh seems to be working out maxed out thus far, but if it causes problems I'll bust out the dremel "thumbsup"

Just got my 11t installed last night. Ran some initial testing, and I do like the gear reduction and the torque so far. I'm really just testing my account's permission to post a reply.

Mine works fine with the 11t pinion and castle 2850KV / Mamba Micro setup. gearing lower won't give heat issues like gearing higher will.
