Long time lurker (if the post count didn't give it away), decided to share my build progress, issues I find with this kit, and hopefully some videos soon!
Little back story I guess: I've had a honcho rtr since back when the honcho became a rtr and the dingo became a kit. Not really too much done to it, seriously has almost nothing done. In all those years, not much broke. Still running the stock motor and esc even lol. I didn't have much of a reason to spend a bunch of money on it, that money always went to the 1:1 rig anyways. But enough about the old scx10, this is about the new one.

I was very excited about this kit soon as I read the scx10 2 announcement, it had everything I wanted to do to my honcho, right out of the box.

Now before I got the kit, a good friend of mine gave me the xj body and tires from his kit. At first I was just going to use those pieces on my honcho. But the body wasn't going to work with my bumpers, sliders, and what I really wanted was the scx10 2... so I have a spare body now. I enlisted the help of the new driver/owner of the honcho to help me mount some axial bead locks, which will be used temporarily on the II and then find themselves in the honcho

After the kit was done being assembled, I borrowed the stock scx electronics to test the rig out in the house, now waiting on a package containing real electronics!

Now, I am definitely not a very good painter, and thankfully I have the spare body, which maybe I can get a pro to paint at a later time, but I had fun nonetheless. The mirrors, grill, handles, and roof rack are great scale pieces, I have a old proline xj body and this axial body is leaps ahead (except for the thin areas around the bottom and tailgate area...)

Since I've been waiting on the electronics (so bored lol) I went ahead and made some scale stuff and bought a proline kit to mock up an idea I had.

Hopefully it's not too top heavy now, I added some weight to just the front wheels and found that putting the heavier springs in the rear of the rig has leveled it out as it sits on the bench. Will see how it sits as soon as the electronics arrive[emoji1]

Oh yea, I've also trimmed both bumpers and pulled them in. I made new holes in the front bumper mounting posts, I originally left enough room to fit a winch. I figure at this point I'll most likely be going with a servo winch. I have my eye on the Scalerfab.com bumpers/slider setup. I'm also looking at the bowhouse transflip/batt tray, waiting to see thier solution for a servo winch using that setup. I'll post a couple of bumper pics for reference

Here's what went in for electronics, running off 3s 2200mah. I need to get it setup via castle link tomorrow. It's nice to not need a bec!

Was able to get out on some trails today. The rig performed great, no breakages, got over an hour per charge on my 2200mah 3s. The smoothness and power of this motor and esc is awesome, so much better than the axial 27t I was used to. Setup was pretty easy, well easier than I thought it was going to be. The power switching setting is amazing, having a quiet motor while crawling is super nice! Only issue was I had to hear my old motor the whole time cause my son was fallowing me with the honcho lol. I filmed most of the run by just holding my gopro. I cut these shots from the video clips and posted a few clips on my instagram (same as my forum name), so in no particular order:

You have some awesome terrain to run. Great Video
Thanks! Yea I just found out about this area about a month ago and couldn't wait to run the new rig there. We didn't even get to explore the whole area, a nasty thunder storm rolled in. Hopefully will get back out there soon, find more awesome obstacles, and possibly have a small tripod lol or better yet another set of hands to help film[emoji13]

nice choice for electronics. "thumbsup"

How about some details and more info on your tail lights?

Np, I can snap a couple pics later if you want. Basically I just painted the tail light area black (not a fan of the tail light sticker look) then I used a body reamer to make the holes and placed some light buckets I had from my honcho kit. I only have the one set working at the moment due to the fact I currently only have the axial simple led kit, but that will change soon[emoji106]

Got to go out on another trail adventure and put together another video

While out on a 1:1 camping trip I got to wheel the rc with a buddy in the proving grounds area of truck haven and here is what came of that: https://youtu.be/kSlCPWTVaSc
