With our local group's G6 in Byron coming up this Sunday, I needed to do something about my mud truck, aka the Dirty Girl.

Here's where is started (pic from the Howl Crawl last October)

12140764_550939746602_1573053076608070738_n.jpg

It started with a BR-XL on 3s running twin Traxxas 550 Titan 12-turn motors, but I had swapped over to a Traxxas Velineon VXL-3S, on 2s.

The first thing to make it more G6 capable was to rob the axles out from under my bouncer. Full width AR60 up front, and a custom center pumpkin AR60 I built out back.

Then I couldn't leave enough alone, so I grabbed the last body I ran on my original SCX10, Proline F250 Honcho cab with bedsides off the Proline 2008 F250 crew cab body.

Making longer rear links, I stretched the wheelbase out to 13". I also slimmed up the Honcho cage, unbolting most of it, and only trimming it in a couple spots.

13095788_556310084402_7121239629262363891_n.jpg

In keeping with how the 57 Chevy body was mounted, tilting, I make a template from posterboard, and then out of 1/8" aluminum, with some 1/4" aluminum cross bars to mount to the cage, and attach to the frame at the body tilt point

...

Next was to remount all the electronics, starting with the battery. I decided to mount it over the motor, behind the transmission. Using axial servo mounts, double screw, and a single screw height, to mount the original battery plate from my SCX with a couple new holes drilled in it.

13179224_556354455482_7841457987012838375_n.jpg

And with the "new" body, I had to see if a Yeti interior fit, and it does, so in it went, with moto helmets.

13165828_556354535322_5424253399794220042_n.jpg

Then I also stole the Solar D772 I converted into a winch, and the BR-Mini I had to power it from the bouncer.

972141_556354485422_3558732119326122019_n.jpg

Now to mount that, and to house all the electronics, I bent up a 1/8" aluminum plate, and mounted it to the new 3/8" thick front "bumper" and a new 1/4" aluminum cross bar at the back of it.

Now along with that, to gain better control. I also stole the motor and esc from my bouncer. waterproof by Holmes MMP, and his 3300kv TrailMaster BL Sport sensored motor.

13174178_556372678962_2298339030501627390_n.jpg

And the lightbar I made for this body back in the day still works

Next was to come up with a "fairlead" for the winch.

another piece of 3/8" aluminum, bolted to the top, and then drilled through where they meet, and countersunk the ends.

13178750_556389699852_6449889828147895048_n.jpg

Also made a new rear bumper with more 3/8 aluminum, and drilled and tapped a couple 8/32 threaded eyelets for pulling and towing. bottom one for sled pulls (which we might have one at Byron), and the top one for ease of access for towing/pulling others.

Still hadn't waterproofed the BR-Mini, that's done now.

13221076_556390468312_622430363650767979_n.jpg

Then got the Yeti interior painted and decals applied.

13260088_556414490172_7100223489316806201_n.jpg

Also took the other lightbar I had in the custom bumper of the old SCX, and drilled a few holes in the grill, and mounted it there.

Being a mud truck, and a Super Duty, it needed a diesel stack, and one coming out of the hood.

Revo driveshaft cut down works great. After a thicker piece of styrene glued into the bottom, it's mounted with a screw through the hood.

Then I couldn't just leave well enough alone. So King Ranch 2-tone, and silver spokes on the wheels.

That is all..... for now, haha

Super fun day down at Byron today! Did strip the stock axial spur gear (was missing half a tooth, so I'm not surprised) Thanks to drjones having an extra spur to sell me, I was back up and running in a few minutes.

Did manage to find a few mud holes, unfortunately I don't have any pics or vid myself, but I know there's at least one.

Also once I got back home, she got a garden hose and simple green bath.

Here's a pic that dna4engr took while I plunged into a mud hole, yeah, it was a deep one, but I drove out.
