Ray bloody Purchase... well, well, WELL.
Hey everyone! How are you doing? It's been a while, I have been away from the hobby as work and family called way more than I wanted, but I had to answer the call. I am now in front of a potential Spring and Summer without nuclear fission happening for the fourth year in a row, so I am considering adding two new crawlers to use for this year's adventures.
The idea would be to add two trail/crawl rigs, nothing fancy or extreme, to have in our hiking and trails. It's not all about "looks over capability" but we also want to take it easy and enjoy having something fun and to spend some hike with.
- Capra 4WS
- SCX10.2 Unimog
- TRX4 Sport
- SCX10.3 Gladiator
- Bomber
- Yeti
- Lasernut
Instictively, just in terms of vibes (which I believe is a good enough reason to buy a new crawler) we were thinking an SCX10.2 Honcho for me and an SCX10.2 Deadbolt for my wife. She loves the simplistic Deadbolt design and I believe it's also an amazing performer, given the platform. We'd keep them probably bone stock, maybe replace the links with metal ones and doing all sorts of free mods, but nothing too fancy. I am thinking wheels, foam and tires will be changed simply because I have extra good sets already done, laying around unused, with weights and all. That's it. We'll add some cosmetic perks and that is about it. Good pure fun without the extra obsessive tuning.
On the other hand, I was thinking: given what I have up there, maybe these additional SCX10.2 are a just repeating something I have, already? Maybe there are a couple platforms that would add more diversity to my current garage?
That's where this post comes in, as I know you all know way more in here than I do.
I think my main features to abide by are:
- lexan body, no hard bodies
- jeep or toyota lookalike design (e.g. deadbolt/honcho)
- 1.9" tires, no excessive scale look needed
Thanks for helping me out!

I am always also thinking to add something complimentary to what I have, although this is not really a must. So far my rigs are:
- LCG G Speed Class 2 Comp Crawler, with portals and Creep body
- LCG Radikal Class 2 Comp Crawler, with straight Axial axles and Cliffanger body
