I don't normally go out chasing trains, but a friend of mine wanted to go take pics of the Southern Pacific 4449 "Daylight" going through Montana on it's way back home to Portland, OR. I figured this was a once in a lifetime chance to see it up here in Montana, so I figured what the heck.
The first 3 pics are in Blackfoot, MT on US 2 (also known as the "High Line") and the last 2 were shot in Glacier National Park, near Essex, MT....

Great pics "thumbsup" That's the last of the SP GS4's, isn't it?

I love steam-era stuff. My grandfather was on the UP development team for the Big Boy. Diesel-electrics may be more efficient, but they can't compete on aesthetics.

Thank You Matt for posting the Train my son LOVED IT!!"thumbsup"

He said It's like Thomas and Gordon, Of Thomas the train.

We watched it over and over."thumbsup"

Yep, last of the GS4's, Stu.
You're right about steam, it's hard to beat when it comes to looks. My Dad works for a tourist railroad in Northern California that runs steam and I always have a great time when I go down to visit...

Ive got that in "N" scale... sweet to see it steaming
I had one in HO scale my Dad bought me when I was a kid:lol:

You're welcome... Trains are a great hobby for fathers and their sons.... if you have the room:lol:

that was cool of the conductor to blow the horn for you"thumbsup"
Ya, they get a little pissed if somebody gets too close to the tracks:lol: When it gets close to me, I usually just set the video camera to where I want it and back far away and snap still pics. I've seen more than one train derailment and don't really like to get too close to them...

trains were my original hobby and still love'em
just about every summer my family goes and rides the train from palestine to rusk. its in texas. anyways great pics and vid"thumbsup"
