Solder brushless motor wires directly to ESC?

I am considering cutting off the bullet connectors from my Surpass motor, removing the 3 motor wires from the ESC and soldering the motor wires directly to the ESC. This will free up a lot of room in my buggy build.
Any gotchas that you can think of?
My transmitter can reverse the throttle signal if I solder the wires in the wrong order.
Has anyone done this?

No problem. I do it all the time. Test motor rotation before heat shrink....
