So may servo choices...Which one to choose?

I have done a ton of research on which servo to get.... I have bought a few on the list....I wonder what you guys recommend? I'm leaning toward the Holmes BLS HV500...Is it a direct fit?


Here is my list with specs.....These were the ones it seems people use. Listed by most powerful to least with the stock one at the bottom.

I've got the 170t in my YXL and it fits fine, I've run it in a few different RC's and it been faultless for the last 3 years, as and when it does break it's going to be replaced with one of these monsters

I've been super impressed with my promodler so far! They're are able to hold a straight line with 4WS on 6S and take some cartwheels. I'm curious about the Blue Bird.. cheep price with crazy power...
Speaking of I just bought a Spectrum S9020 that has 1054 o.z for the Bomber XL .

Them Spektrum servos are over rated and are pretty fragile imo, I've seen 4 of them break being run in 5ive's, but they should be great in a much smaller rig though... I run a Hitec 1000 in my 5ive on steering and a Hitec 845wp on T&B

I run a Savox 1268. Steel gears, torque is 347.2@7.4v, and it's The same speed as the 1270 with titanium gears. The 1230 is torquey but slower. I notice that the 1270 has more torque than the 1268 (the 1270 has 487 @ 7.4v), and it's only $4 more than the 1268! I'm wondering if I should return my 1268 and get a 1270. Any big advantage to steel over titanium that would suggest I should keep the 1268? I will say that the 1268 has been rock solid so far, but more torque never hurt anybody.

I've noticed mixed remarks.. But I was thinking the same thing.. the Bomber XL is around 16lbs not 35+lbs. It's waterproof low profile with a one year warranty and Hitec screwed me over in the past..
Time will tell

I have a Savox 2290SG will 694.4oz torque in my XMAXX. It's been great so far. I also have the 1270tg in my XL and it's been great also.

Don't do it unless you replace the pin that the 2nd gear rides on. They've been breaking on crawlers and when the pin snaps it takes out the NOT AVAILABLE 2nd gear. Other than that it's a decent servo and very quick. It does get pretty warm in a crawler but not hot enough to cause major concern. I ran mine on 7.4 volts and was very happy until a little tumble ruined it. I found that the pin from a cheap solar d772 is a proper fit for the bluebird I've replaced that pin in 2 friends bluebird servos and I just mailed out a pin to a guy yesterday so he didn't have the same fate.


I replaced it with a savox 2290 and I'm never looking back. I've ran through all the popular savox servos and the only two still working are the 1283 and 2290. The lesser models are junk.
