I just built a SCX10ii raw builders kit, has a Hobbywing 1080 esc, castle link 10amp BEC to run the shifts RC servo, A Holmes Hobby rx bypass adapter, HH Trailmaster 540 35t brushed motor, and am using a Flysky GT5. It is going Forward and Reverse when supposed to, but compared to the stock SCX10 ii Trail Honcho I have which has the Axial 540 35t motor, it goes way slower in reverse, does very well forward. I programmed the ESC to 100% power in reverse and believe I have set everything else appropriate, watched a lot of youtube. I have messed with the throttle trim on the GT5, but nothing seems to increase the reverse speed. Am I missing something? Do HH motor not go as fast in reverse? Have I missed a setting somewhere? Appreciate any suggestions and help.

Did you calibrate ESC? You need to do that on the 1080 so the ESC knows what full throttle is in both forward and reverse. Before you do that, at this point it may be a good idea to make sure your throttle channel end points are set to 100% both up and down.

^what he said. Make sure the throttle trim is zero and throttle D/R and EPAs are at maximum before calibrating. It's really quick and easy, hold button while turning ESC on, click again in neutral, click again with full throttle, click again with full brake, and the ESC should arm when you release the trigger.

The motor could be faster in one direction due to some built in timing, but I believe Holmes brushed cans have zero timing so should be equally as fast F and R.
