Shocks for SCX10 II build with LC70 body

Currently putting together a my SCX10II raw builders kit... and like a dummy I forced too much pressure onto one of my shocks after building it causing it to crack open. No big deal as they looked kind of cheap anyway.

But my question now is, what shocks to get? I’ve seen this question asked before on here, albeit not specifically for the LC70. Since I’m in the finishing stages, and would love to not have to wait days for them to arrive, it would be awesome to just get them from my local shop after work. From what I remember they have the Incision sets and a bunch of the ProLine sets ranging from $70-$100.... it’s also very likely they have Traxxas shocks too.

I don’t mind dropping the coin to get a nice set, just don’t want to spend over $100 and get the wrong thing. Does anyone have experience with any of these shocks and the SCX10II (and possibly the LC70 body too)? Will any of them fit fine as long as I stick to the stock 90mm height? And lastly, any experience using the stock kit springs with any of these?

Any help would be amazing!

Depending on the ride height you want, anything from 80-95mm length will work. I have had good success using Gmade 85mm XD dampers with their soft springs in the rear. The shorter 85mm damper gives it a more OEM-ish ride height. Gmade dampers have reasonably good quality; they're not Team Associated good, but certainly not unbranded Chinese garbage.

I did build a SCX10.2 with a Lexan LC70 a few years ago. It had Hot Racing piggy-back 90mm up front with a Yeah Racing cantilever kit rear with matching mini Revo Hot Racing piggy-back shocks.

I can’t figure out how to post pics, but here’s a link:

I used https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VYGCQFZ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_XDJEBHTTDW7VND0FM0F0 on a class 1 build. There RCLions 4pcs RC Shock Absorber Damper 80mm Internal Spring. And there work good. You just need to put a little oil in them because they dont come with any. Here's the truck I put them on.

What are you doing about the rear tower and the deep bed of the LC70? The body sits pretty high if you aren't making a cutout in the bed for the shocks. The 10.2 kit springs aren't bad, but if you want some droop I'd go 1 or 2 springs softer.

Like suprachrgd82 did, I have a current lexan LC70 build but with the Trail King kit. But I have Xtraspeed cantilevers instead and will swap them on soon.

I always will recommend traxxas GTS shocks. They are the ones that come on the TRX4. I have had 3 sets of them(bought 1, two came factory on my TRX4s) and haven’t had 1 issue with them. They are a bit spendy at $90 for 4, but I’d buy them over any other shock on the market for a linked truck. Element shocks are good too, I just don’t like how big the shock body is. Not a huge problem, I just noticed they touch/rub on SCX10ii & VS410 shock hoops.
