Is it the 10II or original?

Both are good rigs. The 10II has the advantage in that the axle diff is smaller, and it has a lot better steering geometry.

I find the magic spot is a 35t motor on 3s. That said Holmes hobbies motors are some of the best in the industry and have motors to fit every budget. My buddy is having sucess with a Gool Rc motor too.

As far as esc's I have a HH BRXL Wp I have been running for 5 years without a hicup, @$120 its expensive but very good. My buddy runs a Hobbywing 1080, $42 and very reliable, and very programable.

You Cannot go wrong with any of the top tier motors and esc's in reality.

Yes there is a differance. I get the same distance traveled with my 2200 mah 3s packs, as I do my 4000 mah 2s packs. And the wheel speed is enough to bounce the rear up most everything, versus the 2s not quite having enough at times. It is also enough to climb most loose hill climbs with a bit extra if needed. My stock Honcho has gone over 100 actual mile since new on 3s.... Once you step into 3s you will not go back.
