Reccomend me a motor and ESC for my SCX10

I need suggestions for a motor and ESC combo for my SCX. I have an AX10 that i am running a Tekin FXR and 55turn tekin motor in so i usually go with whats popular at the time.

I tried my Novak SS5800 in the SCX and it was just way way too much, it pretty much made it look like i was at the drag strip with it lol.
I built mine and tried the 27 turn and Axial esc but the speed control is too un predictable and there is zero drag brake so thats out, i dont want it to go super slow but i would like to do some crawling with it.

I'll be using RC4WD Outcry Crawler ESC (very good drag brake)+ their silver can motor (35T, 45T or 55T, your pick) for total of $60.00.

If you want to run lipos and have alot of adjustability for a low price get a sidewinder. You will not be dissapointed. Also look into either the integy or the rc4wd 35t or 45t motor. I would spend the extra on the integy as it is worth it, plus it is rebuildable.

FXR and 35T

I went with the Tekin FXR and their 35T. I still have wheel speed, and I have great crawl control. I find FXR throttle curve is so well suited to crawling.... but you already have one on your AX10, so you know how they work.

I'm so happy with my FXR, I need to ask... Since you already have one on your AX10, why are you not considering it for your SCX10? Price?

ive got a rc4wd outcry esc and a axial 55t motor. dont really like the 55t so ive got a rc4wd 35t motor on the way for more wheel speed

RC4wd mayhem esc with 35t tekin crawler. Works great, even on 3s lipo.

I have a FXR, and I have two Sidewinders. The Sidewinders are more adjustable with the link, and they can run brushless. The sidewinder is rated to a 19T motor on 3s aswell. So, the sidewinder is cheaper, more adjustable(don't have a hotwire, too much $$$), and can handle more amps. It is bigger, but I still have no problem mounting it in my honcho. I also have a CC BEC, so I can also adjust that with the link too.

It just made more sense to get another CC product now that I have the link.

i have been considering the FXR as well for the SCX, simply because of size. im probably never going to put more than a 2s lipo on it if i ever make the lipo switch.

So Tekin FXR, 35-45 turn motor, 14 87 gearing? Sound like a good combo?

I do have the Tekin Hotwire for the FXR

That sounds like a good combo, I would go with the 35t.

I have a strange combo in mine, I used what I had on hand.
Trinity Monster Max 19t, 550 can motor. (my first motor on my e-maxx crawler)
Mamba max (from that same super)
Turnigy 1300 40c 4s packs, (because I have a few of them for my moa Losi.)

This thing rocks! Of course it's fast, but it still has good low speed crawlability.

I have a SCX10 TR Dingo with the stock 27t motor and a Traxxas FX-5 ESC with 6 cell NimH. Its works very well for scale comps, but lacks the any drag brake. Just replacing the ESC made a huge difference. Good cheep all around solution if you can live without the drag brake.

On the other end of the spectrum, I have a Honcho (same chassis) with a Sidewinder ESC and castle 4700 motor on 3S....Broke the pinion in half on the first charge....a bit to much.

I think a 2S lipo or a 35t motor with the sidewinder would be about perfect for the SCX10 based trucks and their intended purpose.
