I bought both new, the warn winch and the controller. They only worked for 1 try! I buttoned everything up mounted it and now it stopped working. The box just gets a tad hot and thats it.. I hooked it up to a 2s battery.. Did this box take a dump?

Same thing happened to me last week with the wireless one. Drew it out once then back in. After that it stop working. The receiver box would just get extremely hot when I tried to use it. Pulled it apart and it smelled fried. Picked up another receiver and its been fine since. From what Ive read online it seems this is pretty common unfortunately.

Yup, mine smells fried too.. Bummer

Did Rc4wd replace it for you?

Just emailed them about the issue, hope they stand behind there product

I got the warn winch and wireless unit when it first came out. I had high hopes for it, but anything that is electric that has rc4wd on it is going to suck. I did however hook my warn winch up to a heyok 4amp relay controller and run it off of 3s with no issues... so far.

Get a decent winch controller and call it a day for the warn unit.

I have the winch and it works great. I did not use the rc4wd controller. I hooked mine up to a servo board. Seems to work fine so far. Only concern I would have is being its being powered by me receiver it could fry that. Any thoughts?

There are two controllers available, one is hooked straight to the battery the other to the receiver.. I have the one that hooks to the battery.

Mine was hooked to a small 3s lipo that also runs my rigid led light bar. The new one is also. It says the unit is 3s capable. I did not try to send it back since I pretty much destroyed the case taking it apart. I figured they would call that tampering with the unit. If the new one fries I will probably look into other options to run the winch. Winch itself is great. Has enough power to pull my rig and looks scale.
