Who among the old guys remembers this Tamiya-filled episode of Punky Brewster from 1986? It's called Girls Will Be Boys.

IMO this is still the best TV show or movie featuring RC that I've ever seen. Back when this show originally aired Tamiya was a hot toy to have. Lots of kids got them for Christmas that year or around that time. It's when I got my first hobby grade RC - the Tamiya Hornet.

Another one that semi-regularly featured RCs was "Silver Spoons"...also from the 80s. Had a 'thing' for Erin Gray...especially when she played Colonel Wilma Deering on "Buck Rogers".

Yep, that was a real classic. I never saw this, I was on Okinawa building my own Tamiya kit in '86 lol.

That Wild Willy on the table in a couple shots was pretty new then...and Ralphie did pretty well for having shot his eye out! "thumbsup"

Cool, I will definitely check that out when I have a few minutes to burn. I don't ever recall seeing RC on TV as a kid. I would remember, I built a Frog, Grasshopper and Wild One back in the 80's. My buddy, cousin and I were the only ones I knew with RC's in my neighborhood.

My favorite RC movie scene is the one from Oceans 11. The scene where the tech guy races his RC against the macho dudes heavily lifted full size. Classic scene. Makes me laugh every time.

Also, how could you forget this one!

As much as I love SF Chase scenes in movies, one of the things I can never understand is why they have to jump from one section of the city, to another section, to another, and so forth. Even if you're not from the Bay Area, enough people visit SF to realize this. I'll always remember the "Living Daylights" chase scene, with Bond driving the rear of the firetruck. In that 7 minute scene, they must have covered one quarter of the city...obviously, not a realistic possibility...but, still fun, nonetheless.

I didn't forget that one. It's one of my favorite. My sharing of this Punky Brewster episode turned into RC's on TV thread. :lmao: And I'm completely cool with it! "thumbsup" Keep sharing away because I'm sure there are more than a few that I didn't see!

It's interesting. If someone were to walk up to me on the street, and ask, "In what TV shows and/or movies have RCs played any even movie minorly-significant 'role'?", honestly, I wouldn't have had an answer. Now, with all these popping up, it has me wondering. Now, I'm trying to recall (without actually watching it) whether, or not, the Richard Pryor/Jackie Gleason film, "The Toy", had any significant RC-related scenes.

I can't list many either. I don't remember this "Remote" movie at all.

LMAO there may be a reason to not remember it, it looks like
Home Alone doing a 90 minute commercial for RC's :lmao:

We have another "gem" coming along. A love story based on RC cars called Flying Cars.

I believe this one has been teased for years. Team Associted is pumped about it. :ror:

I have no idea why, but I have always hated Punky Brewster. There is just something about that show that makes me want to punch puppies...

Looks like 'Greatscott' isn't so "great". Should have Doc Brown go back, and warm your mom before she got pregnant.

Skip to 1:42 its kinda funny.

I also saw that in a TV show (The Mentalist I think) a few years ago. So they get a plane and a "real" rc pilot for the shot but the actors have no idea how they work.

You can really tell they don't get it when they're pushing the transmitter toward the plane as if that'd help. :lmao:

Why, because I don't like a TV show? That seems to be kind of harsh, don't you think? Well, I guess you have to do something to maintain your SJW status...

No...because of the "punching puppies" comment. I've got a great sense of humor (thus, my BttF reference). But, I DON'T take kindly to cruelty to animals, be it real, insinuated, or even joking.

That's the same movie magic that allows one to lose 7 hubcaps from 1 car during a chase, 2 mid 70's smog strangled Pontiacs sound like a Chrysler 440 4 bbl that somehow lost 7 hubcaps and Ford 390 that was chasing it, warmed over cars to fly like trophy trucks then land and keep going, half the big cities in the US looking alot like Toronto, ect.
