Well I have designed this buggy while I was on my last deployment out to the middle east. I am going to build the 1:10 version first then I'm going to build the 1:1 scale hopefully starting in January. It all depends on when I can find a house with a decent garage. I have the main frame rails bent and te front and rear crossmembers made. I should be getting my traxxas vxl 3s in the mail soon. The wheelbase is going to be 12" to 12.5". I'm goig to run wraith axles and Pitbull Rock Beast 1.9 tires.

this is my update as of tonight! I have parts for the rear cut out and starting on the sides. its going to be an intense build but i think i am ready for it!!

WOW! Today was a hell of a day! I have done probably 80% of the cage work. I need to finish the area under the seats that will hold the transfer case, add a few more small pieces, finish the top area, behind the seats and then start to figure out where the guts will go.

I will be using the Wraith Axles instead of the T-Rex 60's. I will also be using the PitBull Rock Beast but I will still have the same wheels. I need to figure out the lighting situation and then start getting body panels made.

Thanks y'all! I have been drawing on this for about 7 months almost so it's a work in progress but everyday some thing changes on it. I will post pictures tonight about the small progress I got done. Hopefully thursday I can focus on the grill. I have decided to not use the styrene grill and weld one up.

I already have ideas for another buggy.

I just got the Killer transfer case, ultra compact planetary transmission, and some black axial wheels on order from RPPHobby. :flipoff:

Tonight I got the rear flares or tire wells welded on and a bit more welding to stiffin the joints all over the buggy. My lovely fiancee is posing with the buggy! She is super excited about her JK unlimited build!

Hopefully in the next few days the axles will be mounted, the mounts for the mud flaps will be made, shock hoops, and then it will be time to start on the placement of the drive train and all that fun stuff!

Oh yeah I failed to mention that this is my first custom build. And I will let you in on a little secret... It's so much fun building it like this! It has created an entirely different addiction! Haha

I hope y'all enjoy this!

If you have any pointers about the suspension and how to calculate it pease don't be shy!

Thanks!

Alright so two days ago I got my wraith axle housings, planetary transmission, and my killer transfer case. Tonight was the first time I was able to get around to messing with them. I am still going to run a 12.5" wheel base so hopefully it will work out pretty well. Once I get my wraith axles built up I will be starting on the suspension links but while I wait for those I will be working on the interior and mounting the rest of the electronics.
