Pro scale led for 2021 bronco with other electronics..?

So I've recentely picked up the 2021 Bronco and swapped in a brushless combo (Hobbywing axe) into it.

Now after watching videos on youtube on the Pro scale light kit I have some questions/ideas I'm hoping someone could help answering :)

So number one: I'm thinking about taking the input voltage for the led kit from the receiver (still stock traxxas) by making a servo-lead to bec-connector. This should work, right?

Number two is my main concern: I've seen in the video of the light kit that you are supposed to put a "connector" on the brushed motor to go to the "led controller" to activate brake lights and reverse lights. How do I get this to work with the brushless set up? See about 5:45 in this video for what connectors I mean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-inbgYJnZao

Bonus question: Have anyone tried the 3rd party option led kit? Like this one

Thankful for any help/response! :)

I purchased the Traxxas light kit today, will be installing with a HW1080 soon. I looked at the same cheaper kit, but I saw a couple videos showing it. It certainly works, but wasn’t as clean of an install.

Thanks for the reply! :)

I saw a video on youtube that it should work by just using the "wide"cable called "maxx link cable", so I'm hoping that it will work..! Will be picking up the light kit this week hopefully.

The Traxxas light kits draw battery voltage from the JST plug on the stock ESC. To use the Traxxas light kits with an aftermarket ESC you simply solder in a JST pigtail in the battery lead to the new ESC.

Thats how to power it. But what about the motor sense wires which you suppose to attach to the motor wires? As far as I know these are for the brake and reverse lights. How does this works with a brushless motor? Anyone tested?

Did you end up figuring it out? I did the same, but running the stock receiver and maxx link cable. Turns out that bypasses the need for the motor sense input (gets the throttle signal directly from the receiver). If you change receivers then you'll likely need to figure something out - the shop suggested even keeping the stock ESC on board just for generating the motor sense signal (not connected to the motor). But wasn't necessary in my case.

Has anyone been able to solve this problem? Is there any way to send the running direction of the motor to the light control unit? Or is it possible to use the signal that the receiver sends to the engine control?`
Greetings
Matthias

This is what I came up with for a similar question on the Traxxas forums a bit back, it involves using a second micro ESC

Be sure to cut the red wire from the Micro ESC to the receiver so that it does not send power to the receiver. You may be able to run a Y connector to avoid having to mix channels with a transmitter, but you would need to ask someone more experienced with electronics.

I have the Pro Scale Advanced Light kit installed on my TRX-4 Defender with a Hobbywing AXE R2. I'm also using Traxxas Link so have the receiver connected to the Pro Scale Advanced Light Power Module through the Maxx Link in connection.

With this setup you don't need to connect the motor sense connector cables and the reverse, brake detection is triggered by Maxx Link.

One point to note if you're not already aware is that the lighting output voltage from the Pro Scale Advanced Light Power Module is 3v if you want to add any additional lighting.

I just build my own light kits. That way I get exactly the color and brightness I want on each LED. A simple resistor calculating using "R = (Vin - Vled) / I" controls the brightness without any flickering under heavy load, as sometimes happens with more sophisticated LED controllers.
