Portal axles choices

After seeing some truly capable comp crawlers recently I'm slowly descending the rabbit hole of a ground up LCG build. I'll likely not cannibalize my trx4 sport kit for the portal axles- i just like it too much with all the lights and scale goodies on there- Plus it's my 10 year olds favorite trail crawler...
Keeping a modest budget build in mind (I could probably score a set of trx4 portals for the price of one vanquish currie portal) and my lack of knowledge of any other portals besides axial and no name amazon stuff- how do trx4 portals rate in general in the climbing community and are there other un-named options out there?

Thank you in advance

Ive got a set of trx4 portals under a vs4-10 chassis. They done great on the trail n i can climb almost straight up with them. As for sidehill, i think my rig sits a bit high. To much lean n it rolls down the hill. The front axle has o/d n i was runnin tge vfd trans with 6.5% o/d. But my vstrx4 build has become a donor for other rigs. Not sure wat im goina do with the axles yet.

Ive got the new vs4 phoenix im buildin on a gspeed v3 chassis. Cant wait to try out the new f10 portals. Ive read alot of good about them

If you watch eBay, you can grab a complete set of take off Capra or scx10 iii axles for less than $200. At one point I even bought a 10.3 kit stole the axles and sold what was left.
It’s a deep rabbit hole these lcg builds, hope you find something that works for you

Trx4 axles are pretty good, and readily available as take offs, but they are bulky.

I’d certainly shoot for at least ar45 portals if possible, or if you’re not dead set on portals, the ar45 straight axle kit is an absolute steal for $100 right now.

And I haven’t run mine yet, but the Phoenix portal axles I think are going to be pretty popular for these types of builds.

If I were wanting to build a flat rail portal axle rig, I’d get a Phoenix kit, sell the trans, body, chassis, wheels, tires, and have a damn good head start. You could probably get $300 or more out of all that, have axles, links and shocks and drive shafts for $200.

This is why we keep this dude around..
the Phoenix axles I think are going to be the next big thing. It wouldn’t be difficult to part out one of those kits and keep what you’d like when you can get your hands on one

Thank you all for the great replies. I have the chance maybe to score a Capra locally at a good price. Do F9s width make them a better choice than AR45s. I'm just looking to build a fun capable rig.

I've got a TGH Sherpa chassis with a four wheel steer Capra axles and a GSpeed V3 with AR45P's. They don't have the same driveline but in general it's hard to tell them apart when crawling. The Capra axle rig uses TGH wheels which bring the width down slightly, if you're concerned with overall width.
