I have a proline 4runner body I want to paint metallic green with a black hood. What's the best paint and how much will I need? From reading other threads, I think I need to mask off the hood, spray the green and then finish it all in black, but will that make the green really dark? If so, what color should I back it with?

White or silver is a good backer to make the base color a light shade. Black makes it darker. U could mask off all the body n do the hood first, then the green n finish in white or silver

Sometimes black does well behind a metallic paint. If you have spare lexan try with a black backer and a silver.

Regarding the masking, spray the darker colors first so if you want the hood black you’ll want to mask off everything but the hood. May want take a look at making the roof black, too.

Tamiya PS 17 is a nice metallic green and made for lexan. I’d recommend two cans of green and two cans of black for the 4Runner body.
