Well my Futaba Gold has died after just 28 years so I need new radio gear.

I have a CLOD, its going to be 4 wheel steer with two servos, 1 front and 1 back, two escs for front and rear brushless running lipos.

Currently its stock and running NiMH.

I want to be able to switch between 4ws and 2ws with the flick of a switch or the fiddle of a nob.

First question, do I need a 4 channel or can I use a 3 channel with a y harness on my two escs?

I've looked at a lot of radios and can't figure out if they are capable of doing this or not?

I'm trying to do it on a budget but I don't want to buy something crap that will break in 5 minutes or that I have to hack to make it work.

I was looking at the Flysky 3 channel (Cant remember model number) as its only £40 but from reading up many people says its crap without doing the hacks. I'm only bashing this car with my son so I'm not looking for a race level radio set.

The alterantive is a KYOSHO SYNCRO RADIO SET KT331P Tx Rx KR331 2.4 Transmitter that someone is selling for £50.

At the absolute top of my budget (my wife would say above my limit) is the Sanwa MX-V for £100 (it has water resistant receiver) but I would rather not go to this if I don't have to?

please help!

I have a friend with the Kyosho Syncro and he has had two receivers fade on him. They still work, but they're glitchy. And if you do some research you will see that this seems to be a common problem with this radio so I would avoid it.

There are tons of FlySky GT3B and GT3C fans. I am not a fan at all. I hate the way it feels in my hand. I hate the steering wheel, the spring, the trigger and pretty much everything else about the way it feels. Outside of that it is a decent radio, but it also seems to have issues with receivers fading over time. Lots of people have not had that issue, but it is pretty common complaint with these radios if you research online.

I personally prefer the Turnigy TS4G. It's a rebranded RadioLink. I do not know if it can do what you want with the steering though. TrackStar D-Spec TS4G 2.4GHz 4-Channel Radio System (Gyro Integrated)

Thank you for responses so far. I have been researching before I posted but felt I was drowning in information and a lot of it I wasn't understanding!

I definitely don't want the flysky as I don't want to buy something that I have to mod in order to use it.

I'm in the UK and can't find a hacked one anywhere. I am also not keen on issues of quality that appear to be prevalent.

What about something like Spektrum DX4e DSMX 4-Channel Full Range Tx ONLY MD2/4, not a brand I have heard of but I've read many people saying they are good reliable radios. Only downside is its £50 and no receiver!

I love my Spektrum DX3S radio. It's my favorite between all of the radios I have including a Futaba 3PM-X.
