Hi all, I would like to buy me and my 7 year old a pair of crawlers for Christmas. I am looking at both the Carisma Scale Adventure SCA-1E at £199 and the Axial SCX10 II Deadbolt at £269. (black Friday deals apparently)

Considering we are both new to the hobby/sport, would anybody suggest the Axial is worth the £70 extra? My son is keen to do some log/rock crawling and scales and light river running...

Any help appreciated

Many thanks, Dan

I am an axial guy so I would go withe the deadbolt. But the deadbolt is the bottom of the line. Plastic links are a bit weak and flexible. It does have a plastic gear in the trans that can strip. And the stock shocks leave something to be desired. No bead lock wheels. That being said it is still a great rig with a few upgrades. Out of the box not very impressive, it’s all plastic and it needs a bit of weight down low to keep it planted

I almost bought this a while back. But I went with the scx10.2 builders kit

This is a very impressive rig out of the box. It has everything that the deadbolt is lacking. Great shocks, metal trans gear with optional overdrive/underdrive gears. Metal or aluminum links, and beadlock wheels. Makes it easy to change tires and add or remove weight. Out of the box it is one of the best crawlers. I would say the best bang for your buck if your on a budget. Even it it is $10 over

Thanks for the advice! Totally get everything you are saying. I have found the deadbolt for £250 on a black Friday offer - unfortunately the Element is £310 so a hefty amount more money. Still undecided really - don't think I can stretch to the Element currently, especially as I would like 2!

Will have a think!

Thanks

Thanks for your help! Unfortunately the deadbolt is no longer £224, but £268.49  However, you've lead me to that store which I hadn't found before, but have the Element RC Enduro Trail Truck Sendero for £271! For what I gather it's a great truck and a bargain at that price - so i've ordered it!

Thanks all for your help! "thumbsup"
