Took advantage of the bf sale at one of my state Hobby shops that had the original 1.9 Capras on sale for 239 for the rtr with free shipping.

New to the Cap and while I bought a 10.3 kit, ended up selling it before I built it.

So who wants to update me on the quirks I'm going to come across beyond the meh stock electronics.
Looking for a good crash course of info.

Stock electronics and tires suck, obviously. Ride height is too high IMHO. I run internal and external limiters on my Capra along with mini t springs, much better. Getting the CoG down is good but that means the skid sits lower, a flat skid makes a big difference there. I've been running the one from Spare Time Hobbies forever and it's been great. Needs some front weight, cheap brass portal covers help with that. With just a few of the right mods (and good electronics) these things are pretty capable.

Honestly dont do much right away lol. I never had the rtr, so cant speak of stock electronics. But i would do the pen spring mod, and drive it. Maybe do some wheels and tires next. Replace electronics as needed.

I recommend overdrive gears in the front portal boxes, and an 11t pinion.

Upgrade electronics as you see fit with time

Don't forget to set the endpoints on the dig servo or it will have a short life!! its a pain with the stock transmitter but do-able

Sick deal! Hard to find anything to complain about at price. The 11t pinion is only a few bucks - so I'd throw one of those in then just drive it and see what you think.

Good points Gents (and any ladies that may have helped or replied, lol).
I have pinions, need to get some other tires/rims for more options.
considering od for the portal box, or just od R&P for now.

I picked up one of these too.... excited TBH I had my eyes on them long while but as we all know we dont need anymore crawlers and wasnt much appeal to them at regular price... lol well as you mentioned I already had a closer look when i saw them on horizon for 299 and in all honestly I was going to pass on it at 299 but when I saw someone mention them on sale for 239... the bills spilled out the wallet almost immediately. I also plan to enjoy it RTR first and upgrade accordingly and slowly. To many good deals this years TBH it was hard to hold back.

You can also get underdrive gears for the diff from vanquish or boomracing. That way you can underdrive the rear if you prefer to keep the overall gearing lower

Yes. Considered that. Also thinking of the chyna set that gives you the extreme od set of 8/24, but you also get the 27, 30, and the 33t gearsets. Worst that can happen is they are shit-quality metal. aka similar to stock. lol

Hard to keep a gr8 deal to myself. lol Glad to see I made some sales for the. I should hit them up for some 'affiliate' bonus'. olololol

Cap arrived today. Not opened it yet though.

Also got my Amain box which is most everything I need to finish up my spare set of SSD Pro44s and a spare but lightly upgraded set of Ryft Axles.

Vader Skid on its way.
Also going to get the newer 4WS cage incase I decide to 4ws it, I have the cage already installed and ready to go.
Old cage will be paired with a new skid which will be part of the new Monster Mash Chassis Railed Rock Racer build I am gather the gear to build.

Going to get a few other items for the Cap as well, SSD Steering mount and wheel adapters, the vader 3 gear plate should I make that change.
SSD brass knuckles Or I'm going to get the Treals which I think look way better impo.

More as it comes in and I get it installed.
Keep an eye on my Monster Mash Rock Racer build for the cage on it now to be utilized.

Skid came in today.
Got the new 4WS Cage in my cart, but watching an ebay auction for one up for grabs with some other stuff.

Not moved forward much yet. Busy paying bills off and working on my LCG rig and a new drifter. Did get a few more things so far. SSD servo mount, and SSD Hexes for other wheels. Nothing been installed and as we still have a few inches of the white stuff not from Ohio on the ground yet, and its still in the low/mid 30s, the Caps still wall art atm. lol
