Hey folks. A couple of us were talking over on Opie's thread about my buddy who has some land with really good potential for a "track." He is pretty open to the idea of possibly setting up some of his woodland for RC trucks, and we have already had a ball running the Yeti, SCX10, Wraith and even some 2wd sand rails on the basic single track we cut out this summer for motorcycles.

The questions would be: what would be the best way to go about it? And what type of track would lend itself best to the property. I'm new to all this - so any help and suggestions will be much appreciated.

Brief description:

The way it currently sits, there are about 10 acres of wooded land, much of it hillside. The hill drops down fairly steep in places to a stream (crossable in spots with a little massaging) and then back up the hill on the other side.

The place we've been running is up on top of the hill, just inside the tree line. There is already a steep downhill/uphill run from that area down to the stream where we now basically just turn around and come back up. But that bottom area seems like it could be just the start - with trails branching out from there. The cool thing is that the trees have somewhat limited the snowfall on the ground - so it's even been fun in these early winter months.

I think a big decision would be whether to cut out a few separate tracks/trails, or somehow tie them all together (what I imagine G6 to be like). While the hills create a challenge to the design, I really feel there is great potential.

The VIDEO I posted in the other thread probably shows it best (but shaky!), but I'll try to get some more descriptive pics. For now, the photos below give a rough idea of the type of terrain we're dealing with. First shot is the hill, 2nd is the "track" up on top inside the tree line.

Yep. On all ideas.

Looks like a great spot. When's the GTG?

Aha. Sorry. :)

I'll check in with my friend see when he's up for some visitors/help. I think the spot could be really cool. Already it's fun, and with a bit of work it could be outstanding.

The only difficulty I have at this point is seeing certain lines through the trees. There are a couple places to stand that provide good views for 85% of the area - but that last 15% seems to lead me directly to a tree, ledge or straight off the cliff!!!!

Looks like decent enough terrain for me. When can I come over for a test drive?

My favorite part is where you say "crossable in spots". That's my kinda submarine driving.

At first glance it would seem your only a few jumps and bermed corners away from a scwheet U4 style coarse.

I will definitely talk to Kurt and see when he's cool with us dropping by. I think it could certainly be a U4 style track for sure - except for the current sight lines due to certain trees being EXACTLY in the way :).

There is potential for sure - and some creative ideas and some elbow grease could provide fun for hours....and days.

Good to see the interest guys, I'm perfectly willing to share. ;-)

The property lends itself to virtually unlimited possibilities which I'd really like to explore, we also have a grass field which currently has a motorcycle track running through it that could be awesome for a short course track too.

I'm game for creating an actual U4 style track as well, making something where we could hold sanctioned events could work & would be fun.

Thoughts/ideas?
