99.9% of us can figure out what this rig is! And looks like Toyota is back in on this.
Screenshot of one of the clips in the teaser, just upped exposure and brightness.
I might be one of the more excited people for this to release because the Venture was what I began this hobby with and it still gets tons of love today.

It looks like the Marty McFly truck from Back to the Future. A nice truck, but one of the most over-hyped of all-time.

If this is more than a new body from HPI, I am probably going to faint. This is a good chassis and it deserves love to bring it to the current. The Venture never got a fair shake because HPI dragged the release out for what seemed like years.

It totally looks like McFly's truck as Jato mentioned and hopefully they do make the chassis justice and bring it up to todays comparables. Look forward to see a new player in the game.

It definitely does look like that truck, I just hope it's at least different in styling.

I'm with the both of you. A version 2 of the chassis is much needed. Please let it not be a rerelease of the old chassis, HPI!

Wasn't that about the time HPI went bankrupt? IIRC they got bought out and it took quite a while for things to start back up.

Hopefully this will bring something new to the table and they are not just slapping a new body on the old chassis.

They went belly up shortly after the release of the Venture for sure.

Woah. Let’s hope this doesn’t get dragged out and that the body is a hardbody. Let’s also hope some upgrades to the kit are included and it’s not just a new lexan body slapped on the old Venture.

Aw man, that's news I didn't want to hear. I mean it's cool for the general hobby but a smaller Venture will not do as well I think. Then again I'm just not a fan of the smaller scale stuff.

My venture SBK has been a solid truck overall, and a decent value at only $200. It's managed some podium finishes against purpose built comp trucks.

But I have some complaints I doubt HPI is going to adress:

lack of gear reduction, even with the smallest pinion that fits it's only about 30:1. I want at least 40:1.

Weak cvds. I broke both of mine within a couple weeks of use. Currently using Ascender cvds, but those will be as rare as chicken teeth pretty soon.

The axle housings are weak where the lockouts/Chubs attach. I've busted a few of them now, but I do play hard.

The 2 piece axle pinion gear and shaft is my biggest complaint. I've destroyed a few sets of ring/pinion and I believe the root cause is the bit of slop between the pinion gear and shaft creating poor mesh regardless of shimming. Where's my one piece machined gear sets?

If HPI addresses these issues, I'll likely get another. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

Isn't the turning radius limited on that truck as well. I know I really liked the Venture, but there was one flaw that I really didn't like about it. I thought it was the turning radius, but my memory could be failing me here.

The original rtr had dog bones that didn't steer very well. The kit included cvds, and the instructions showed minor trimming to the steering stops to increase the max angle. Supposedly later rtr's included the cvds.

With the ascender cvds and the steering stops filed down I get about 45* max angle, which is decent and a few more degrees than the stock cvds allowed. It's now comparible to a TRX4 or scx 10.2, other than the lack of a readily available OD option.

The new Venture is a mini.

Available in brushed or brushless

Venture 18 Brushless

Venture 18 Brushed

At least it isnt 1/24.

Full metal drivetrain, 2 speed transmission and for an extra $50 you can get the version with an outrunner. Might be a neat truck for those into the small scale stuff.

I’ll pass right now thank you. Brushless is a nice offering though. Wish companies would light up the spotlights and the bull bar that they have from the factory, especially when this comes with a light controller, which is a nice feature.

I'll give it to them. This is a nice release for the smaller stuff and it's a body that hasn't been released in that scale yet. I think a lot of people will be purchasing, besides myself.

🥱

Another disappointment from HPI. (n)

1. It's not a new 1/10 Venture that is long overdue.
2. It's another mini. At least it's not a useless 1/24th scale like the SCX24.
3. It will have to compete with the TRX-4M straight up.
4. It looks nice and possibly even well done, but just too little too late from HPI yet again. That's kind of their MO.
