New body for SCX10 - Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

I'm working on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon body for SCX10. We got bored with the stock red Ram Power Wagon body that came with RTR version, so I decided to paint some new one. Truck is used by 10yr old kid, so body will be exposed to heavy abuse, and that's why I want to make it simple - simple paint job + some stickers, and that's pretty much all. I have bought a can of Tamiya PS-14 Copper and PS-5 Black. I have also PS-1 White from previous project. Should I back Copper paint with White or will be ok if I just paint black on PS-14 Copper? I will be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks!

Nice choice...I love the Jeeps.
white will make the copper brighter, black will make it darker. maybe take a scrap from the cut off lexan and do a few samples. kinda depends on what you want the final color to be.

Yea, I did 2 samples and I decided to back it with white. Looks really nice :. Time for some stickers!

That white made it pop! Looks great...i might give that color a shot on my buggy bodies!!! How bright is it in the sun?

I did a Cherokee body in a Metalic purple the used white top coat the when I blacked the Windows I blacked out the underside. It made the purple pop.

Yea! It's a bit rainy here at the moment, but weekend should be sunny, so hope we will take new bodies outside. I will share some pics for sure.

Looks good. I always wanted to use metalic purple for one of my MTs... :)

That's a great color for the Wrangler Unlimited body! I have almost the same color on my Axial body, except it was called Pactra Fiery Orange, and I backed it with Silver.

Thanks. It is an awesome spot, but only accessible about five months out of the year, and I only seem to get up there once a year, unfortunately.

It's real nice up in that area. I got to spend some time in Anacortes for a while. I've been looking around here for a hill, I thought I saw one once, turned out to be an alligator. lol

Man, I totally feel for ya. I spent four years in St. Louis, but that was before I got into RC's. Even if I still lived there, it wouldn't take but a 45 min drive to get out to some woods, where there'd be some hilly country to go wheelin' through. The Anacortes area is nice, with the Olympic Mountains right behind it. I would like to live over there, where it's not so congested, but the Cascade mountains, to my East, are a little more rocky than the Olympics. I wouldn't be able to complain either way.

Sorry for the threadjack, by the way.

I have finally found some free time to edit a video of the whole cutting and painting process. Hope it will be a beginning of the whole series... Enjoy :-)
