Hello,
My husband got a west coast chopper remote control car. It's the big gray one, like 1950's? It doesn't have the remote with it. Looking to see if any one has one to sell. I'd like to find this for him to surprise him. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!!

I'll just start by saying most folks on this forum have rock crawlers and its not that likely someone will have this specific remote. I think your best option may be to purchase a new set, theres one on Ebay for about $40 shipped.

You may be able to find just the remote by it self but you will need to be able to bind (pair them together) the new remote to the RC car and I'm not sure if thats possible. It may be a safer bet to go with the whole new set.

My solution would be to buy another aftermarket remote and receiver but theres not many options for that which would come in less than $40. You can however get the whole car, charger and remote for $40.

Please dont take offense but this type of RC car is known as a "toy grade", these tend to break easily and not have parts available so they are generally not regarded as worth investing much money in.

Good luck "thumbsup"

dose your husband like to build stuff if he dose then buy a hobby grade car and adapt that body to the new rc car you just need the mesurment from center of front tire to center of back tire and look for a car with a simmiler wheel base

Thank you, yes I know it's considered toy grade. He has mostly traxxas and those kind. But he just happened to find this one and would like to be able to make it work. He also has one from speed racer the old cartoon. The link you sent from ebay, I'm pretty sure that's a smaller one his is like 30 inches big. I appreciate your help!! Thanks!

I'm sorry, that wasn't a big gray one like you mentioned

It must be the 1/6 scale version, those are much bigger.

If he's already into RC and likes to customize them my guess is he may already have plans for this that might involve keeping the body only. He might have a remote already and its possible he might just needs a receiver for it.

I'm just making guesses at this point but it hard to know what hes truly in need of. I think a safe bet could be to try to pump him for information to see what he needs, or you could get him a gift certificate at a hobby shop and play it even safer.
