I recently attended RCX in Long Beach, CA where I met Dan, the proprietor of My Trick RC who sold me on his FANTASTIC light kit and light bar. The $20 light kit includes:

An 8-mode 13-port controller to handle everything from Crawlers to Helicopters
A 9-volt adapter plug if you'll be powering more than 16 lights total - $0 each
5mm lights with long lead wires and pre-installed plugs - $2 more each
3mm lights with long lead wires and pre-installed plugs - $2 more each
"Y" adapters to plug your lights into your receiver - $0 each

The light bar I chose was clear with white LED's, but other colors include orange and red/blue flashers. It plugged directly into a special port on the controller for power. The controller then plugged into my receiver channels 1 and 2 through the provided "Y" adapter cables for turning and brake light control. The brake lighting refused to work properly no matter how much I played with the transmitter trims; this is due to lack of manual brake function on my RS10-XT crawler's ESC, not any problem in the light controller.

Installation was a cinch with the provided printed instructions and online video; full color downloadable PDF instructions should be available on the website any day now according to Dan, who responded quickly from his mobile phone when I emailed him a question.

So check it out at My Trick RC:

...and trick out your own RC!

Conclusion:
The good -- documentation, ease of installation, customization, product support, looks, price
The bad -- some crawler ESC's don't really have a brake function, just auto-brake (not the light controller's fault)
The ugly -- no reverse lights :(

Bottom Line:
If you want to light up the night or just look "trick" during the day, pick up a kit from My Trick RC.
